anyone out there got one? for coyotes head shots or body? how do they perform?
-
Sure don't need to go for head shots. I'd say the 223 is just about the best coyote cartridge there is. Should be good out to 300 yards.
-
Picture please so we can all go ... Ooh Aaah!
-
I have a head shot picture from my varmint getter. Its messy and might offend others. :yike:
-
I've had a few .233's and everyone shot well, Easy to find a load the was accurate.

Nice! They had a "plain" Stevens 200 in .223 at the Couer d'Alene Wholesale Sports for $200.00 (I just picked up one in .243.) My .223 Stevens will shoot 1/2" with Black Hills and Fiocchi V-Max loads.
-
that camo/blued stevens is the same one im planning on getting after i turn 18 this month!! I'm gettin so itchy to get it. How long do you think the new shipment of them will last??? cuz i wont be able to get my hands on one till the very end of this month...

The rifles (they had some Stevens, Browning, CZ, Remington and TC) were on clearance because they were old inventory. The half-dozen Stevens 200 (I saw one in .223, .22-250 and .25-06) that they had left was it. I took off early from work and did a hour and a half round-trip to pick one up.

i would like the 22-250. any idea how long it takes for them to order one in if they dont have any left in stock at the end of this month?

What's not to like about a .223??? They are cheap to shoot. Ammo can be found just about anywhere. As long as you stay within the boundaries of the twist rate there is a variety of bullets and powders that work well and they are about the easiest, least finicky cal. to load for you will ever find.
I think if you take ALL things into consideration the .223 is pretty close to the perfect yote round you will find.
-
they have 22-250 at cabelas now i know they have atleast 2 of them and ya the .223 is realy cheap too shoot and very common and fun my girlfreind was shooting mine today and haveing a blast with it lol she shot the *censored* out of some stuff :mgun:

How much is the camo stevens selling for?
-
1:9 twist. excellent. will be a killer rig.
-
$400 with the scope not a bad deal i didnt think it will get the job done
-
Have you shot it yet? How's the trigger? I have heard they are really bad. I am getting a Savage and had considered the Stevens since they are all on sale in Texas right now. But then when I figured in the cost of a new trigger and stock it was more than the Savage. So I'll just go with the Savage. I did wonder about the trigger though.

Just bought a Rem 799 Mauser in .223 over the weekend. Cute little thing with 20" barrel. I like Mauser actions, but I have to admit this is pretty rough. Remington has discontinued the line.
Have been looking for a reasonably priced bolt action .223 for a while and took this flyer. We'll see.....
-
223 just fine for yotes.... shoot em where-ever you can hit em.
-
those triggers on the stevens rifles are just like a savage pre-accutrigger. they can be worked or adjusted, just takes a little work. they actually can end up really nice if you spend a little time with them.
-
223 body shots will put them down just as quick with good placement and a good bullet. they work just fine i run 3 223 a bolt and 2 ar-15.
