Well my dad was kind enough to let me tag along with him and a friend today to go out walleye fishing on the Spokane arm...it started out pretty slow with only 2 fish in the first 2 hours at the spot I got fish at last week, so we looked around a bunch of different spots until we finally found some fish....the bite was extremely light!!!....very slight...we pretty much were dragging jigs tipped with worms on the bottom...we figured out that if we trolled slowly up stream we got no bites but down stream we could get bites...it was really weird that they were so finicky...we fished from about 9:30 AM till we got or limit around 4:00 PM ish.... and then tried for some small mouth with no luck... i did get one small mouth that was about 14 inches long in about 35 feet of water by some under water weeds....but that was the only one...all in all it was a fantastic day, with amazingly great weather and little to no wind most of the day... oh, most fish were caught in 50 feet of water on Gulp minnows...in minnow color and in the very popular chartruse....

Nice!
I've only gotten one keeper walleye in WA. Nicely, it was a 32" 10 pounder at Potholes lake.
They are definitely a tasty fish.

I got a 10 pounder last week!!! no such luck today...lots of them were in the 15 to 17 inch range...which is still pretty nice

I miss being able to go fishing for walleye! They don't have them over here. Thanks for posting the story and pics!

Well done! So that smallie was on the bottom in 35 feet of water? I'm fishing a tourney next month on Roosevelt. I'm hoping the bass are more suspended by then. What was the water temp?

water was cold...I think it was low forties....we caught another one last week in 20 feet of water off a point with lots of boulders near a good drop off...

Outstanding! Thanks for the info!

Robb92, Take a drive north and book a charter out on Lake Erie off Ohio or Pennsylvania. You WILL have fun! Great looking walleyes, perfict eating size!

Got back last night from another trip to porcupine bay, and ended up with 2 more limits of walleye. We threw about 6 or 7 smaller ones back, and they averaged around 15 inches or so. They were all males, and were in 40 to 55 feet of water hitting jigs tipped with a 1/2 worm as usual. I took a friend from church who hasn't fished for 14 years, and said that it was the first time that he had ever caught a limit of walleye so that was pretty cool. It was a VERY light bite, and 4 other boats saw us catching fish, and pulled in to give it a try but couldn't figure it out I guess because they never set the hook. Some times thats how the fishing goes. I did have a friend show up however with his boat with 3 people, and even though he was only there about 4 hours caught 23 right next to us. The only thing that he was doing differently was using braided line, and I think that made a huge differance while fishing in 50 feet of water, but then sometimes very subtle changes are all it takes. All in all it was a great day to be on the water, and NOT AT WORK!!!!. :chuckle:

Accually I've been doing it on the counter for the past 30 years so nothing bugs her any more. I butcher my deer, and elk on the dinning room table, and the ducks, geese, and pheasant on the floor or the kitchen countertop. Sometimes I even use a board! :P

As long as I'm sharing what I shoot or catch, weathergirl doesn't mind where I clean it. If I clean up the mess, of course.... :chuckle:
This post is one more reason to move east someday....
