Title: Anyone use one of these: Limbsaver de-resonator

I wouldn't buy one but, I'm pretty sure I could make one if they're worth a crap.  I've seen great reviews online about them.  Anyone here have any experience with them?

I've tried them on several guns, including bull barrels, and personally have seen no improvement. :twocents:

I use one on a free floated Ruger77 barrel. It did improve the accuracy by ~1/4" at 200yds.

By the time the barrel starts to resonate the bullet has already embedded itself into something downrange.

You would benefit more by spending that $9.99 on ammo or range fees.

I noticed a difference on a gun that had a lightweight turned down barrel,it was my least accurate gun,it is a cheap fix for a gun with accuracy problems.

No.. Not gimmick...

Go over to Rimfire Central and read about barrel tuners. I know several people that instead of floating barrels, are actually applying pressure to the underside of the barrel at various places to deresonate the barrel. Placing the LimbSaver deresonator on some barrels will help with barrel vibrations. Vibrations that have an affect on the stability of the bullet as it passes through the bore. No, you wouldn't normally put one of these on a heavy/large diameter target barrel.

I was skeptical about them but I went to Shelton and talked to their Vice Pres and he hooked me up. I was thinking about the endless possibilities of where to place it on the barrel and how many possible shots it could take before you noticed any difference. He agreed and told me that the best place to begin was to start either 3/4" from the end of the barel or 3/4" from the end of the forestock. He claims that the majority of their testing found quick results in one of those areas. I now own a couple of them and did get tighter groups on the one I tried so far.

Can I make my own?  I figure a good rubber plug tapped to fit my barrel and slide it on will do the same thing for about 50 cents.

Don't see why you couldn't make your own. Invest the 50 cents, give it a try and let us know how it works out for you!

I tried one on a Tikka T3 .300wsm that didn't meet my accuracy standards and it did seem to help, but I couldn't stand the UGLY :chuckle: that the de-resonator gave the rifle.
