Title: Crow hunting ? depredation ??
Post by: oldbadger on February 04, 2008, 11:50:55 AM

Has anyone had any experience with shooting crows not ' in season ' -- in the act of depredation ??

How close to the line do the fish & game guys look at this one ??

I seriously doubt they would waste their time with it, unless reported by the neighbor.  Then they would be obligated.

Thanks for the reply. I just heard a story about goose hunting and a ticket and it's got me more than a little jumpy.
Seems a game warden can give out some pretty stiff fines and not have any evidence that you even did it -- just a cell phone call from someone he doesn't know can put you in some deep crap.  The guy I was talking to even tried to dispute it in court and the judge would not here him --- was told to come back and if he does  " have a lawyer with you "  - minimum for a lawyer to represent you is around $1500 for a $160 some dollar ticket but that ticket sticks with you ...
Just wondering how one of these new ' game wardens ' would handle crow shooting these day's . Anyone having any other experiances with these ' call in tickets ' ??

Its not just the wardens.......its society in a hole.  I started a fire in my woodstove in my garage this last weekend and my pissy neighbor turned me into the EPA for pollution.  Bare in mind we had 5-20 mph winds so I don't think it had anything to do with stagnation.  I didn't know anything about it until I got a letter from the EPA stating that if they received another complaint that I would be fined.  NO *censored*.  Not, we would come investigate, or darn your neighbor is annoying, but If we have another complaint, we will issue you a fine.   Oh want to play that game huh........sorry putty tat, you are now classified as Feral.  The letter went on to saying that in stoves older than 1997, I might need blah blah blah.  Oh, so woodstoves made in 2007 are pollution resistant or what?   F'in tree huggers.

Bone- didn't you know that your stove has to pass the California Emissions test? :chuckle: :chuckle:

Burn your old oil that will really fire them up.

Here I thought that those "pissy" neighbors only live on the westside of the state. Some people need to mind their own buisness. Just wait to see what the influx of people has in store for our state!!

They came from the westside, but I won't get into that(they have lived there less than a year), kind of reminds me of that Montgomery Gentry song.....and T-Roy, I am even more rural that sheep co road.

Sounds like my neighbors who called the cops to complain about my bull bellowing at all hours of the night.  They are California transplants that, quote, "didn't move to the country to hear noisy animals".  Kinda funny considering that their house is surrounded on 3 sides by CATTLE RANCHERS!  What f-ing idiots!  They have also called me in for shooting coyotes, crows, raccoons and domestic dogs.  Oh ,and a couple of their cats.  The cops keep telling them that what I am doing is perfectly legal, especially in a agricultural district.  Shoot all the crows that you want unless you are within city limits.  You can claim almost anything as an act of depredation, or so I was told by a game cop friend of mine.

Personally I'd be really careful about when and where you shoot crows. I'd like to do some crow hunting myself, but I'd be doing it on public land and I'm not sure what I'd say the crows were doing to satisfy the "in the act of depredation" clause. If you're on private land you might be ok, as long as your not in an area where some of the neighbors might be liable to call 911 anytime they hear a gunshot.

there was an add in one of the local papers about a month or so ago, stating that it was now a $15,000 fine for burning debris/yard rubbish in your backyard....and I think the ad was put out by some state agency....let me look through my old papers and see if I can find it.....I was shocked when I saw it...I couldn't beleive it was now illegal to have a fire in your backyard....

Yep, we need to save all the pollution up for the forest service and private timber companies, so they can burn this spring.  Their shctick don't stink!

Speaking of depredation.  I wonder what one of these costs?

I took my daughter back to Moses Lake this weekend and counted 27 of them from Eburg to Moses.  Thats alot of quail.  This one happens to be eating Chukars.

Ya know what we need -- we need a group of hunters that will chip in to foot the bill for one of these guy's who got one of these whacked out ' From a phone call ' tickets and some how bring it out in the open so everyone knows what is going on. You would think the NRA or some organization would be all over this. " No evidence but here’s your ticket anyway " What the F$$k ??????????

And then sue the state back --

How about the ACLU ------------ where the hell are they ???  Oh -- wait - these are just white guy's and hunters too -- no need to help them out.

The more I think about the madder I get --
