I know the hunt is up for application and being drawn, but are you going to be applying?
I've never went out for bears in the spring, but after just coming home from the desert, you can be sure I'll be hitting any possible hunting season that I can be!
-
me and blindpig put in for all the hunts around the blues. we drew kapowsin 2 years ago and saw every color of bear possible.it was great
-
The Blue Mtns! :) I haven't been drawn in the last 6 seasons >:(
-
This is my first year applying so we will see. Not sure what the odds are for Monroe area
In general, is spring easier to tag a bear or ???
-
I bought my application but I am not sure if I am just going to put in for points or what I am going to put in for. Guess I need to hurry and make up my mind.

Points! LoL...Just don't put in for the Blues or I might not get drawn for a seventh year >:( Actually drew the first two years in the Blues so I am due. :)
-
I put in for Monroe and North Skagit. If I get drawn, Im going. If I dont get drawn, I am going with my camera.

-
im gettin all pumped up just thinkin bout the draw. you bet im in for it
-
I'm in and pulling for kapowsin tag.
-
wont be much longer and we'll all be hitting the back door site to check the unofficial results...
and of course we will need a few 'joke' "the results are up" threads as always....
I saw some skunk cabbage already out in a swamp yesterday...they should have plenty to eat in another month.
-
Pathfinder JR and I are in. We were just out shooting his new .308 yesterday, just in case he get's drawn. Anybody know about when the results are going to be up?
-
Sometime after the 12th....... :chuckle:
-
put in today for spring bear. 1st choice Capital Forest.Rick
-
How was your first choice Capitol Forest when there are no permits there this year ???
-
that would of been my choice . i know the area and have seen three bear there in the last week. no my first choice is Lincoln. Rick
-
I am also applying Lincoln, although in my scouting so far all I see is coyote sign and a few deer and grouse, although I saw some fresh Elk tracks today.......and one Jake turd....
-
I put me and my son in for local permits and put my wife in for the ne corner. Hopefully 1 of us will pull a permit. Other wise its mushroom pickin for me.
-
Haven't really thought about it. Haven't even bought my license yet.
-
Don't really have th etime this year, and am not chomping at the bit like the last 6 or so years, so SHOULD draw this year.
-

Same here, guess I should quit procrastinating before its to late. Mark
-
yeah...if I'm not in JAPAN.
-

I believe he had applied for the Lincoln permit, which borders Capitol Forest.

Michael
-
I'm in for the monroe and skagit hunts.
-
Im in for monroe and skagit as well. when you get drawn will there be a outline on where the hunting is? I am so used to unit 437, and dont even know where to start anywhere else.
-
Nope.
-
Is it possible to buy just the bonus point for Spring Bear?
-
Yep. Points only is the last selection in the list.
-
Yeah, maybe I'll have to go with that choice first. Chances of drawing on the first application is pretty low anyways, huh?
-
The chance of drawing depends on what unit or units you put in for, and your chance of drawing is zero if you only apply for a point.
-
I put in for Aladdin, Monroe, Kapowsin, and Copalis. It's my first time applying so my hopes are not up. If I get drawn for any of the last three it will be a bit of a scramble since I've never hunted any of those areas. I put in for them based mostly on draw odds and the fact that they are close enough that I could do some scouting on weekends if I need to. I'm familiar with the Aladdin unit but it's a heckuva drive for me.
Got my fingers crossed.
-
Do you realize it's quite expensive to hunt the Kapowsin unit, due to the access fee?
-
i knew there was a fee but am unaware of how much it is.

How much is it?

Same here, I might be spending camera time with you.... :chuckle:
-
First time for me to, put in Monroe and Skagit :dunno:
-
Putting in too. Hope to get drawn. Already got my spots picked out depending on what unit I get drawn for. An if I don't oh well points, I guess lol. :)
-
Copalis. Whoever draws there has to get an access pass from Rayonier and you need to watch the borders. Not sure if I want to draw this year as I'm coaching 2 little league teams. I do have some Saturday afternoons thru Sundays open so I'm sure I'd make time. That honeydew list can wait. To those who draw have a great spring hunt!
-
I guess I need to hurry up and make up my mind if I want to put in for an area or just put in for points.
-

Put in! Your area an mine if ya get drawn up here I'll take ya out. :)
-
i knew there was a fee but am unaware of how much it is.
Well the year round pass is over $300 but that was sold out about two months ago
They (Hancock Forest Managment) are offering a temp pass that is only valid during the bear hunt for $100
I really wish people would research their areas before submitting apps because many people who get selected for these fee areas don't use their permit because of the fee and those of us willing to pay the fee lose out...
-
yeah i just checked into that and i wont be putting in for that one :chuckle:
Just bought my spring bear app. Now to figure out what areas to apply for....Hummmmm........
After the meeting this week anyone know when we will be able to buy special hunt permits for elk and deer? :dunno:
-

What meeting? They are having a meeting the 12th and 13th to discuss the new proposed special permit system and other things. Is that the meeting you're talking about?
Then they are supposed to make the decision about a month later at the next commisioner's meeting whether to accept the proposal or not. So I'd say we're looking at a minimum of 6 weeks before applications will be up for sale. (notice I said "applications." I wish I could purchase a special permit but all we can buy is the applications) ;)
-
Yep, giving it a go again. Hopefully luckier than the past few years on drawing.
-
Yeah thats what i thought.
and i meant apps haha
-
Just bought the bonus point. I looked at the hunts, and I didn't realize that there wasn't a GMU supporting Spring Bear closer to my home. Looks like I'll have to plan for it next year (or maybe the next).
I'll be up there chasing them in the fall, though.
-
Looks like the site is up and running again.
Just applied for permits.
Elk multi season....
Deer multi season...
Spring Bear...
-
I finally put in my Spring App for Bear yesterday over the phone. Kinda hope I get drawn now. Got 3 points going in. Havn't drawn anything for 3 years. I should draw something this year.
-
I got 4 points for multi season elk hope i draw that one :-)
-
Just put in for bear permit today, nothing like being on top of things :chuckle: Mark
-
my luck i will get pulled this year and i will be on vacation for the first two weeks of the season
-

Cool man, let me know. ;)
-
I thought I put my spring bear in the other day but apparently niether the internet nor the telepnone was working properly. I tried the internet first and it obviously did not work. I then tried the phone automated system which appeared to work fine. I even got a confirmation number. I got a message left on my answering machine yeasterday stating that my permit was submitted when they were having problems but none of my hunt choices were recorded. They left a message that I called a few minutes ago and supposedly they took care of it. :bash: :bash:
I put in the N Skagit since it's close to home.
-
Just a little FYI if you plan on puttin in as a group the limit is (2) for bear.
-
Yep :)
-
I just put in for Monroe again. I doubt I can pull it two years in a row though.
-

No worries with me. I'll pay the $100. I didn't research it because I really didn't care what it would cost. I've heard that there are big bears in there and I want a big bear. I have $100, but I don't have a bear yet. It's only money right?
-
Im in for
1. Monroe GMU 448 Sillaguamish #7014
2. North Skagit GMU 418 #7013
3. Copalis GMU 642 #7015

-

-

I am hoping to find time.
-
Watch BTKR you will get drawn with less points than me. :bash:

Probably, but hopefully not. I think I can find more time to help someone else than I can to hunt for myself.
-
I talked to a friend who already has a 2010 permit for the Blues. Apparently, 3 permits were not issued for 2009 and 3 very lucky hunters received desk permits for the 2010 season last summer.
-
When do the rest of us find out..? :dunno:
-

Well if it's the same schedule as last year the drawing/selection is this coming week so hopefully the results will be on the internet right after that. And the packets will be sent out next week..But that is a total guess, this is just how it went last year.

What a bunch of crap!
If the permits were not issued in the year/drawing they were set up for then they should be void, not carried over to the next year.
-
I spaced it and never put in , I must have to much going on

I do not know all of the reasons a permit is not issued. My guess is bad address or deceased or something else.
I have heard of desk permits being issued in other species. I guess you should hang out at the wdfw offices and see what opens up.
My friend is retired and has time on his hands. He said he is already out scouting.

I would be suspicious of that story, as there is no such thing as a "desk permit" as far as I know, and permits are issued for the season that they occur in, not for the next year.
I may be wrong, but I think your friend is "B.S.ing you".
I would have to see the permit to believe it, can ask him to post a picture?

I was thinking the same thing.

According to WDFW, the guy is pulling your leg.
I asked about it and this was the response.....
There are no tags issued in the manner to which you referred to in your e-mail. No such thing as a desk permit.

Well maybe he was joking with me. Since he is a retired officer, I believed him.

Unfortunately, it is that way with a lot of "sportsmen" :liar: some of the stories you hear.....
