I set my new record yesterday while shed hunting with my mother... we heard some howling and decided to sit down and play with the yotes for a bit... after the first sequence we had FIVE dogs!
....two of which were domestic. :dunno: We were so busy watching the husky and lab-ish looking dogs we almost missed these on the opposing side of our canyon:

The domestic dogs scooted through the brush about 20 yards away from us without busting us. We waited another 5 minutes and I gave one more good scream on the cottontail and that's all those coyotes could stand: they came flying across the draw. Mind you, my mother and I had only planned on shed hunting because the owner of the property doesn't have qualms with coyotes so does not want them killed... So we let them get to about 60 yards and I popped up and took some photos.

Wow, you are pretty amazing! Would you like a hunting partner for Tuesday through Friday?
-
Does three bears count? :chuckle:
Most dogs I have called into view has been three. Similar situation, I wasnt allowed to shoot em, only call.
-
Great pics

The most i have ever called in was five. All five were not together though. I called in three (shot one) then went to coyote distress like always and called in two other from a totally different direction and killed one of those. Very cool sequence, wish i would of had my camera man there but went out by myself.
-
had two different pairs come in on my first set today. first pair circled downwind a long ways off but the second pair didn't fair so well. The female wanted nothing to do with dog distress and left in a hurry. best setup was 5 dogs but 4 of those were younger pups.
-
I saw eight dogs total today and they all had nice coats on em still. I even kept the male in the pic.

Three bears is pretty cool... the only things other than coyotes I've called in (to my knowledge) is a single bobcat and numerous deer. I would love to call in a bear or two. :)

Very cool... sounds like a fruitful area for coyotes!
I really need to start recording some hunts... that would be fun.

Sounds like a glorious day in the field! Good job. My mother and I saw one dog today... but it was running up a draw filled with deer... so he's safe for another day.

At least you got out and enjoyed a day outside... that's more than most can say. :)

Called in three at the same time quite afew times, twice this year. A few years ago I had three come into a set, killed one and out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw a fourth but couldn't be sure.

Very cool. :) Did they all come from the same direction?
I'm not used to seeing them in numbers greater than two so I'm trying to get an idea as to how common it really is.

Best I have had is 3. Got to watch them come across a big open field 3 abreast from a half mile out. Dropped the first one at 50 yards, got the second when the other two both stopped and stared at the one that went down. Got the third with a Texas heart shot straight away when he was trying to get out of dodge. Lucky for me that he went straight away as he was moving fast and I probably would not have tried the shot left to right. Very rare for things to line up like that.

The first triple this year came from 3 directions within seconds of each other, the last ones came around a flooded part of a field every time the would get to the end of the water they would enter our scent cone and would turn and head back where they came from then hear the call and try and come around the water again. My partner 1st time rookie said they milled back and forth a few times. He decided they weren't coming any closer (about 100yrd) and decided to give it a try, he was able to empty the rifle 3 shots and throw up dust around them but didn't connect.

A triple, Jeepers! I've called in doubles and triples, but never managed to kill all 3. Nice shootin'!

Man you guys rock, I'm lucky to call in two a week :dunno:
Honestly, 2 at a time is it for me, but I'm still pretty new.

just one :bash: ive had more than one pop out but never have gotten more than one called in within 100yrds at one time
-
i was not yote hunting but muzzleloader hunting with my uncle. a pack of 8 came over the hill and chased the deer we were stalking with the buck that i wanted to kill in it :bash: so i was pissed they were about 350-400 yards away and the dom male was the closest to me so i told my uncle watch this they were in hunt/kill mode so i used my finisher the good old lip squeaks all at ince there heads turned and they came flying towards us.the first one ran b at about 30 yards from us them the next one came over about 20 yards and got wacked then they all scattered but if i had my shotgun i know i could have got 3 or 4 that were less than 40 yards when i shot the first one but the muzzys arn't that good of a multiple yote gun lol
-
I don't know, I didn't weigh them! :P
(Kidding!)
Seriously, I'm not sure...
Called in a fresh dusting of snow on the dry side one time and heard two different packs going. About 20 minutes in, a real lite colored Coyote come trucking in, checks up at 70 yards and I blast it. The only one I saw.
Walking around the stand I realized that the whole gang was there. I never saw any of the others, but the snow said there were at least 5, maybe more. :bash:
-
I have brought in seven coyotes out of a single group. 4 hung up at around 250 yards and 3 came in for some shooting. I got two of those.
I had 4 bears one time. A mother and three cubs.
-
The first one I called in about 15 yrs ago came in with 3-5 others. I couldn't count, all I saw was fur everywhere, and definitely different sized yotes (prob some young ones and a few adults), and was so shocked and focused on the first one I lost track of the others. This was on the wet side, in some pretty open reprod. Other than that, the largest group I called in was 3. During that day I batted 0 - 14.... :( And it wasn't the guns fault. The next day, went 1 for 1, with a pistol. I had to redeem myself ;) Since then my shooting has gotten better, well, somewhat better!
-
Well beat my previous record this morning, called in 4, 2 are dead. :IBCOOL:
-
'grats! :) I hope to increase this year's totals today myself. We've called two in and seen 5 total in the past two days. Here's hoping for a nice set like yours! :)
-
Only 2 for me.. :'( and didn't kill either. :bash:
-
Thanks Hirshey, think I'm finally getting this calling thing down. Or maybe it's the calls that wiseoldyote recommended. :dunno:
-
Seems I have had better luck callin' in multiples in April/May when they are start to group up for the yote rut. Last year near Moses Lake I set up downwind of a large bowl and let 'er rip and in about 30 seconds had 5 runnin' in tryin' to be his pal to the wounded rabbit. They all went past me at about 40-50 yards still runnin but there was only 4 left thanks to the 22-250!!!!!
Get groups of 2 or maybe three earlier in the winter but lots of singles that time of the year.
Have to work a little harder now to find spots that they are not call shy with the popularity of this now. These are still some of the best times to spent with kids. They love it and get 'bit by the bug' when they see one coming in.
Bobcats, ya lots of them too here on the westside. Pretty easy to call in!
-
They're not mating in april/may, they're feeding pups.
