:IBCOOL:
I'm pumped, haven't been lucky enough to tag out on a bear yet, hopefully this year is my year, came close a couple of times but no rug yet. :bash:
-
Good luck on it Ridgerunner....should be a kick!
-
Right on, I wish you good luck!!! :IBCOOL:
-
congrats Ridge...should be a fun hunt.
-
Are you going to try calling them in?
-
I don't know what the game plan is yet. Still in a little shock, didn't expect to draw to be honest. Excited about being able to perhaps get a spring bear though.
-
Didn't you draw a moose tag a while back!!?? BITE ME...... arrr...uuhh I mean congrats :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
WWHEEEEEEW! Selected for Kapowisin :IBCOOL:
-
Funny how that works, drew moose with 2 points, haven't drawn bear with six or so. LOL Goodluck!
-
If you put in for a unit with 150 tags your odds would be better, bone. Makes a big difference.
-
True fact.

Well...just looked guys. I to was drawn for spring bear in Kapowsin. Should be a hoot. PB
-
Congrats Brian!! I was hoping the wife would have drawn that tag too. Oh w3ell, there is always next year!
-
I have no idea where the Kapowsin is but I hope those of you who drew that permit have a fun and successful hunt. Spring bear hunting is a blast and is in fact my favorite of all big game hunts (I confess though that I have only hunted deer, elk, moose, cougar and bears). Anyway have a good hunt.
-
Myself, a friend and his grand daughter all drew Kapowsin. Yeah baby. :IBCOOL:
-
Everyone makes kapowsin sound like a great hunt, it would be nice to see some photos of kapowsin bear success.
-
It's not a great hunt and out of 150 permits they might get 8 bears.

8-12 would be about right for 150 permits, but I don't think I have ever heard of more then a couple every year.
-
This might be a great year with no snow. Good luck every one. Not sure what I got yet. My first choice was Linlcon creek. Rick

but witch GMUs is every one hunting 653 or 654.
Me ill be hitting 653.
-
I drew in 08' and shot an old boar on my 23rd day, May28th- squared 6 3 1/2 est 350+. Never did see another harvest report card in the box. Bring a good pair of boots and maybe a video cam so you can film the elk. Lots of area and a beautiful place to hunt. Enjoy! I'll try and post a pic of my bear.

Where did you get that info? The latest information I can find on spring bear permits is from 2007.

i talk to the local warden from time to time

22 year old bear is a hell of a trophy in my book. Sounds like you just have to be a persistant hunter to have any success, Good luck to all that drew I might be hunting kapowsin next year but this year I will be trying to get the fiance a trophy out of the north skagit unit.

Did they change the rules for that hunt?
I didn't think you had a choice. In the past, once drawn, the timber company seperated you and told you where to hunt.
I know we have at least one member that had a heck of a time dealing with them.
-
That member isn't the only member that has had problems.
-
its really pretty easy. south side of the tree farm is open for spring bear. go through the south gate and have at it. shouldn't be a problem or confusing
-
im pretty sure you will not be able to hunt 653 at all
-
congrats to those that drew! look forward to the stories and pictures!
-
I dont think buckley is open for spring
-
:crap: that means i have to get the short term pass for Kapowsin to hunt there, will there gos $100 bucks. but im still looking forward to getting out there. :) .
-
if you dont have a pass at all you would have to buy one no matter what. the spring hunt is only on the tree farm

cool are they from this area
-
My buddy drew Kapowsin as well. I've never hunted it but I hear you guys talking about the temporary Hancock permit available for those who draw. Does Hancock give out a temporary "buddy permit" for me to go out on the property and assist my friend while he is out hunting the land?
-
not unless your his kid under 18 or his wife :yike:
-
Hey all I am new to the board but am the buddy of NWTFHUNTER. Got drawn for the Kapowsin bear hunt my fourth choice and also my first year I have put in for the Bear hunts and was hoping the Monroe hunt since its where I live. Going to be tuff to juggle Turkey and Bear this Spring beings that its a lil bit of a drive to get down to go hunt Bear but it is closer than Spokane. I wont be road hunting thats for sure cant stand it so Im sure I will be up in the hills a few miles in. Good luck to everyone that drew tags this year. Any help would be appreciated.
-
Heck we should plan a big hunt WA BBQ for one saturday down there, oh wait that might be considered baiting.
-
Me too ! Me Too ! WA HOOOOOO ! Can't wait. Going to try it with a bow this year, at least where the layout and terrain supports it. Good luck all and good hunting.
