Nice Cat!! Damn I think I know that guy. Does he live in Dayton. I surely recognize the Dayton Hospital. Been there a few times while I was in high school
-
Nice Job !! Any story to go with the pic?? Which way from town?
-
no storie that i no of my dep cheif was at the hospital to have lunch with his wife and these guys pulled in.
It was said to have been shot up bundy hallow, but thats all i know.
wish i had seen it in person.
-
Nice cat, wish he was mine :chuckle:
-
Nice cat, it would be nice to know the story.
Seems often you come across a story or parts of one.
Since many looking at this thread may be interested in cats, and not to steal the thread, has anyone seen or heard of the cat that was shot over an elk kill this winter up near Naneum section? Said to have been three cats on the kill and the young man in the pic took the biggest one. the email said 325 lbs, most likely a lot of weight from the gorging.
Anyway, details appreciated.
-
that is Flyguide from this site. it was not 325# and not killed over an elk kill.
here's a link to the real story.

Thanks for the link and yes you do have to take anything on the internet with a grain (pound) of salt. I couldn't imagine a cat at that weight either.
Great to have the rest of the story. Thanks again

Oh, you definitely not the only one, It got a lot of people curious, that's why I love this site..

I was told there was a cougar found dead in someone's yard up Mill Creek (near Walla Walla) last week. You heard anything Firecrotch??
-
gramps, i found out about as close to the source as you get, i wont state the guys name that shot it but he definitely did shoot it up bundy hollow
-
Firecrotch is right, and i wont put the guys name on here eather but it was shot up bundy hallow.
no real good story just a hunter that go lucky
-
I did not make myself clear....I was referring to a different cougar and was not asking who shot this one..sorry.
Congrats to the hunter..another cat out of circulation and a nice trophy.
-
Nice! Good to see another elk-eater bite the dust.
That photochopped pic of flyguide's cat is on the cork-board at Sportsman's Whorehouse in Kennewick, along with the fake-internet story. I thought about telling someone at the store what the real-deal was, but then though naaaaahhh... let the legend grow... :chuckle:
The funny thing is that the real story is waaaaaaayyyyy better than the fake one...

This is my first time on this board. I am the lucky hunter that shot the cougar in the pics. I just found out today that the pics were on this board from my taxidermist. It's all old news now but the cat up mill creek was hit by a car. No luck drawing a late cat tag this year but I'll still be on the mountain all winter looking for other critters. Good luck to all.

It was not 325 lbs. I know a guy whose best friends brother knows a guy that used to work with the sister of the hunters neighbor and said it was as big as a full grown grizzly bear. You can't tell b/c the guy in the picture is 7'2" and weighs 365 lbs himself

:hello: Welcome on board, nice cat for sure! hope to see some pics when you get it back from the taxidermist! are you getting a full mount :dunno:
-
Just to clarify, I shot the cat at the start of this thread not the monster cat. Mine was a 7' 140# tom. It has a 14 3/4 skull green. I didn't measure it after the 60 days, doesn't matter to me. I wouldn't put it in any book anyhow. I was just having the skull done and tanned, but my taxidermist convinced me yesterday that I should have another rug done. My first cougar was a small one and I had him do a rug on it also.

Should have done this before/ Had a cougar in my neighbors yard about a month ago in Yakima. this was about 1 1/2 miles from bimart for thoes who know where this is. The WDFW was the most stupid thing I haved ever seen in this event.
will post pics when I get home.
That makes the 4th cat i have been involved with.
The first one got it with my 50 cal muzzel
Second miss
3rd 30-06 at 10 feet and the WDFd Mess
(2 and 3 where a mating pair - missed the tom and got the female)
