I am gonna keep you on your toes for awhile and will post the story on saturday when I say what it scored. Here is another angle if you want a second guess.
-
Changing mine to 189

Since you gave us a second angle, I'll change my original 174-4/8 to 184 Gross
-
I'll Stick with my Original Guess!!! :chuckle:

Very Nice...................188 1/8.

I'm going to up mine from 163 to about 170. He doesn't look very wide from the angles shown. I guess the trash will add some more points...

178

Dan beat me to it, so I'll go with 171 1/8.

I'll change mine from 163 to 169

166 3/8 totally pulling this one out of M_ray's :ass: also!!
-
Careful there Sky you might get more than a Deer score! :o Could ya be a little more gentle next time!
-
how about 181 1/8"
-
:chuckle:
-
A post like this is really difficult because you base it on what you think the buck is in the picture angle. In real world situations, you may very well get to see different angles of the antlers to guage the size. While fun, I'm not sure how accurate anyone could be with a only two photos. Certainly the 2nd one helped and most changed their scores. If we had 10 on the buck and all the angles, it would be much easier for people to be accurate with their predictions... But I guess that' the fun of this game. :)
-
172
-
175" gross
-
I'd say about 177.
-
You are right Pope. I wish I had some field pictures but you will find out why I did not when I share the story on saturday. Maybe when I get home I will but it out in the yard and take other angles. I will say it is fun watching all the guesses come in thou.
-
174 1/8
-
One thing for sure, there should not be spider webs on a buck like that,
174 1/8
-
it does look like webs in that picture but I assure you there are no webs. Rougheye is a witness
-
182 :dunno:
-
Here are some other angles Pope
-
some more
-
168 + trash = 178?
Shawn
-
Mray and Huntphool were the closest. Pope was until he got a couple beers under his belt. 166 nahhhhh 169 Final answer!
-
looks like he has battle scars on his nose!!
-
190
-
182 5/8 gross.
-
171 4/8 gross
-
You might be right on there DOUBLELUNG. I'm a stingy *censored* though and not sure if he can break that 170 barrier.
-
Guess we find out tomorrow...still sticking with 168 even with the new pictures. I think mray may squeak me with that extra 1/8th he added.
-
:chuckle:
-
I think he'll be 7/8 short. :)
-
A bit narrow but the forks are deep and with the trash I am going with 184 7/8....Good Game Bone! This is hard.
-
Bone, Yeah your'e right on about the pope I'm looking at it right now with a couple of Alaskan Ambers in me and it looks like a 200 incher!
-
So here it is ready? I am sure this will bring up much controversy but it is legit and in the books. measured by an official p&y scorer.
The winner with the closest guess is elkslayer with 190. It actually scored 191 3/8
The story
It was the last year that the Entiat was open without a permit. It was the forth day of my hunt and after seeing alot of nice animals I was pressed for time because I only had one day left to fill my tag thanks to work obligations. It was a extremely cold but clear day. and after blowing many stalks on some other bucks I finally saw the buck I wanted. he was with about 15 does and moving away from me across a ridge about 600 yards away. As I watched I saw that they were being pushed by a guy at the bottom of the canyon. I watched them as they watched him. I made my move since I had the high ground. About 1 hour later I put myself in a place to cut him off and wait for him to cross my path. Well as every hunt always goes every single doe crossed at 15 yards but no buck. I started looking around and I noticed him just going over a ridge to my right. how he got there i have no idea. I moved my way over the ridge and noticed him bedded down two ridges over about 500 yards away. with the wind I had to go back the way I came and come back around to stay out of site and have the wind in my direction. This is where the story turns... As I was coming around to get on the buck I was walking the back side of the ridge and when I came over the finger this buck was bedded in a little valley. I saw his antlers and dropped to the ground. I peaked over the edge and looked at him intensely. It looked like he was sleeping. This was not the same buck I have been stalking mind you. I rangefinded him at 58 yards and let the arrow fly. He got up went down the hill and dropped at 100 yard from where I shot him. As I approched the biggest buck I have ever shot the original buck I was stalking was standing 20 yards away from him and the buck I shot made him look puny.
Now the only problem was is that I was at least two miles from my truck and it took forever to get my friend on the radio. I finally got him out around midnight . One of the greatest days of my life. I contribute this deer to 90 percent working my ass off and 10 percent luck. if you put in the homework and effort it is always gonna pay off. Thanks for the guesses it was fun..
-
Dang I missed it by 6 3/8 from the first photo!!! ;)
-
Do you know what the mainframe scored and then the trash? I was so off I'm really doubting myself.
That happens to me though. I'll get on a buck that is big but I don't think he's that big. I'll take a bunch of photos and then years later I'll finally pull them out and look at the buck. Then I start to realize how big some of these bucks were and I didn't realize it at the time. Then I kick myself for not taking more photos of the buck.

I wouldn't have guessed that if I would have drank all of Popes and Mrays beer. I must have forgotten to multiply the inside spread by 3 or something. Not much controversy if its official. I'm ususally not that far off, definatly missed something on that one. GOOD JOB!
-
Wow nice buck just did not look that long in the picture. Not uncommon as everyone knows photos can go either way.
-
Wow I was much closer after the beer's! :chuckle: I'm not even going to consider any more of these contest's until I've had at least 3 or 4 beer's in me! Whadaya say pope???? :brew:
-
You know M-Ray, I have a study that says you actually drive better up to a .05 BAC... I've actually presented it in court before...lol. So, maybe there is something to the whole beer thing. Two should put me at a .05 so yeah, a couple beers can help! That also explains why I was so off in my prediction... I wasn't drinking...
-
There you go I've allways said I was better after a few beer's in me, you know like Golf ,fishing and now I can add scoring, (but of coarse not driving) ...and now I have proof! :IBCOOL:

Great job man thats a smoker buck! The more you look at him, the bigger he gets... good main beams, great forks, BIG basses, Nice brows, tall, some trash... I'd say his main frame with brows was around 175ish... Great buck!

The more you look at him, the bigger he gets...
And Pope and I say " The more beer's you have the bigger he gets!" :brew:
-
Hey Pope,
Could you send me a copy of that study, I could use that on my wife !! :chuckle:
