Title: could anyone recomend a trail camera?
Post by: grundy53 on March 30, 2010, 12:35:56 PM: i would like a fairly inexpensive one. is there any decent quality trail cams under $200?
any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Post by: bonkellekter on March 30, 2010, 09:07:32 PM: The next step up Moultrie M40 (Flash) and I40 (Inrared) go for about $150 and have 3 times the battery life as the D40 and somewhat better pics. The Bushnell TrophyCam runs at about $199 and is much smaller in size than the others (More concealable) and has a battery life of up to one year. If your looking for the best quality for $200 I would go with the TrophyCam. If buying 2 cameras for $200 or less is more appealing than I would get a couple of D40's.

The IR models do not emit much visible light when the flash goes off. Whether or not a regular flash scares animals is debatable, but for sure the regular flash is very visible to humans. I had one in the woods behind our house and I returned it after a week because my family kept complaining about lightning waking them.

The Bushnell Trophy Cam for $200 is a great all around model.
