Title: 2010 Eastside Rendezvous--Catfish and Smallies--June 4th-6th
Post by: walt on April 06, 2010, 09:54:06 AM: It's almost that time of year again -- The Second Annual Eastside Rendezvous and Catfishing Extravaganza -- June 4th, 5th, and 6th at Lyons Ferry Marina.

I talked to Jim at the marina this morning and they are ready for us. Reservations can be made at any time over the phone or online, you can reference Hunt-Wa in the comment box and they will try to put everyone in the same area. They have updated the facilities and even have wi-fi for those of you that need to be connected. There are only 18 spots with full hookups so reserve now if you want one.

There is tons of good information in last years thread as well as on their websites.

The Marina is very family friendly with a store, restaurant, and docks to fish from. There is also a state park across the river at the mouth of the Palouse.

Anyone who wants to help organize this please post on this thread or pm me.

Post if you are bringing a boat and have any open seats. There are also lots of places to fish from the bank, especially if you don't mind driving a mile or two.

Anyone familiar with the area please feel free to post suggestions for gear, techniques, to do's, must see's, don't forgets....

We will get a potluck list going when we get a little closer to go time and have a better idea who all will be there. This should be a great time, hopefully mother nature smiles on us. Who else is in?

i make a mean macaroni sald, i will volunteer for that as well.

Even if the wind is blowing you can fish up the river it;s pretty protected and people fish off the docks. They have bathrooms and showers and a nice little restaurant and at starbucks they have a gear store you would;nt believe.

I have to leave NLT 0530 on the 5th because I have to ride my mules in a Parade that morning in Reardan. Depending on how good the fishing is I may drive back down the evening of the 5th and fish till the next day.

P.S. Are there places I can use one of the little 2 man bass boats with a trolling motor or would I be asking for trouble? Thanks!

Post by: buckhorn2 on May 13, 2010, 10:03:19 AM: There are some sheltered area there where there were small boats and a place on the other side of the bridge that has launch sites and people were fishing there but I have;nt fished there myself. We got in a pretty good wind storm last year and they say the snake itself can get rough but you are close to the marina.

is the river crusing pretty hard there

Post by: buckhorn2 on May 13, 2010, 02:09:18 PM: They have a big walk way that extendes way out that a lot of people fish from and they have some of those pontoon boats rig with lanterns that go up and fish at night. People caught crappie or bluegill not sure which but all around inside the marina with bobber and worm. On the other side of the bridge lots of people fish on the bank and just up the hyway there is a parking area where people fish the mouth of the tucconcanen. sp. And up at the dam it;s about 10 miles are some camping areas around some bays and lots of people fishing and people with big rods fishing sturgeon at the dam.

cool I used to talk to a trapper in the UK that used that,carp and tench were a big deal

so what is the alternative....naked...that definitely aint right.....naked catfish noodling...a new extreme sport maybe :dunno: ok so the tinfoil hat might not be the best choice in lightning...but the fact that you know moleskin is not fun when wet...thats a bit disconcerting :o

Anyhoo--- I'm very interested in the Lyons Ferry get together, live an hour+ from there and have some experience with the cats but I'm walleye challenged. Have a 20 foot Hewes Craft jet, have been up the Palouse to the real skinny part chasing cats. My partner and I will be down Friday morning, will have room for two if needed. We normally use shrimp, sardines ,nightcrawlers and scents for cats, garlic is our usual go-to. As I said, we are walleye challenged, would love to learn, two open seats. Give me a shout, thanks, fishing fool.

On the other side of the bridge by the state park a lot of people fish and walk out a trail but it;s where Rick ran into the snakes so we cancelled that. You and I would need to turn the hearing aids way up.

Post by: rasbo on June 06, 2010, 01:47:16 PM: the trip was awesome..Between all the people that went,there was over a hundred catfish caught..most by two guys not on the site..We had a pot luck that rocked,buckhorn2 brought moose steak and his friend bob cooked them man they were awesome. Jimkd8 brought elk backstraps,qwackwhacker made salad and chili,and his beautiful wife made moose turds for dessert..I fried up a mess of catfish..what a feed bag we had....People that attended were,rasbo buckhorn2 and bob,qwackwhaker and his dad,hes a really great guy.Jeffvegas and father,Jeffs dad is quite the gentleman.1rod,bearmanrick,Jimkd8,Geno and his lady that will not eat wild game till yesterday she liked it..will put picks up later...Bearmanrick called in a stealthy predator,which came in underneath a truck and grabbed him...it was the sneaky jimkd8 which grabbed him...underwear change followed..A huge thank you goes out to buckhorn2 for taking me in his boat everyday..He is a very good man and has a huge heart...

So I broke down and bought the wife a new Jeep at Dave Smith's, but it ran into Sat evening late and we didn't get home until nearly 10 pm. Those were a couple of big wolves! Looks like they have been eating well. I was going to take a shot, but my recurve only shoots good out to 90 yards.
