the elk i got last year i didn't mount but have decided now i would like to since its my first bull, what would that cost i have no cape
-
a pretty penny for sure :chuckle: i am sure the taxis on here will tell you i would say 1000-1200 the cape i am sure would run about 200 or more :yike:
-
holy crap that's insane had it lined out before elk season, cause i had cow tags, to get a cow mounted it was only 400 wish i would of saved the cape but shot it right in the neck so that didn't happen o-well i guess
-
Do a little checking sometimes you can find a good cheap cape and then the taxi bill is cheaper if you have a cape that is ready to go
-
First off how big is your elk? Got any photos?
I charge between $750 - $900 for an Elk Shoulder Mount.
The size and what I pay for the cape dictates the price. Also if I have to buy a cape from another taxi. Typically between $125 - $300 for the cape.

Make sure you get all the hunters and tag information with any cape you buy.

well then inform me whats the difference Ive heard them called both for 20 years I'm allways willing to learn something new
-
besides were getting of topic here carp but i do want to understand your thinking is there
-
when you say doubble eye gaurds that is not right because they are 2 diffrent normal points the 1st and the 2nd points. the first tine can be called eye gaurds but that is a deer hunters term for elk tines. i was just pokin fun but now you know you will sound allot better calling him a 4pt bull and that is allot better than saying a 2pt bull. hope this helps matt.
-
just trying to help you out, legaly it is a 4pt bull not a 2 point bull just trying to help you out
-
yes butt at the same when i say a 4 point with doubles its gonna impress ya that much more i kinda see your point but that's the way i was brought up i guess we never count the (eyegaurds) as points except for the 3 point rule ya know
-
yes i know what you are saying just trying to help people learn, as well. and in the wardens eyes they are a legal point. so good 4 you on your first. my first was a bull calf but it was with a bow :chuckle:
-
gotcha carp thanks
-
750.00 for mount,
I have a nice tanned cape that would be an extra 125.00.
It came off of a 4x4 bull elk last sep, couple little fighting scars on the side of it.
So all together 875.00 + tax.

i say the little one don't count what ever
-

YES!
-
I've never heard of anyone regardless of where they are from refer to a seperate count of eyeguards or browtines on a bull elk.
If that was a whitetail then that would be a 8 pointer...but it's an elk, so it's a 4x4 bull.
:twocents:
:dunno:

different strokes for different folks. :chuckle: :chuckle:
