Not real impressed myself.  Motoring up to an animal that doesn't have the fear or sense to flee. Not really hunting.. :twocents:

It just goes to show that one doesn't necessarily get wisdom with age.
What was this guy thinking?
Maybe he was the one who had too many beers.

If this got back to the PH's professional group, they would probably fine the PH and then expell him.

:yeah:
I'm the same with exotic sheep, hogs, tahr, chamois, etc, no desire what so ever to shoot one.  Not my cup of cheese.

yep!

And just like every other animal their numbers need to be kept in check. Elephants probably more so then any other animal in the world.

Anyone else think it looked like that last hippo was finished with a rifle? You can see the fletching from the arrow in it's nose, but the kill shot all I could see was an impact no arrow or fletching.  :dunno: IMO if you can't kill an animal cleanly with a bow and someone has to be there with a rifle to make the kill shot, then you should not be using a bow to begin with.

Elephant recovery in Africa, they were on the verge..has worked so well in some areas that they are now a major danger....remind you of anything... (hint I'll huff and I'll puff....) I've heard Hippos actually kill more people than any other animal over there...

I'll go back and look again but I thought they took just one Hippo. The rifle shot 2? was the kill. It looked like the first arrow barely got through the hide.

With the film cut after the first arrow shot I was thinking there were 2 seperate hippos. I guess it could be all the same hippo though which means that fired at least three arrows at it. That just seems retarded to me. :bdid:

Of course it would have been better if the animal had to only be shot once, but that looked darn exciting to me. My guess is that at least one person in the boat had dirty shorts. :chuckle:

It's sad that they put this video together without showing some of what went into the hunt. They should have showed where they were staying, some various footage while hunting for the animal they wanted to shoot, then showed the kill and some footage taking care of the animal.

By only showing the kill, the video gives the false impression that they just motored out and shot the animal. Even hunters on this forum get the wrong idea, can you imagine what anti-hunters must say.

But knowing that there is obviously much more to the story, I must say, I hope I get to do something exciting like that one day. Africa is on my list. ;)

I assume it's all the same hippo, the guy should have had heavier arrows for that hunt that could penetrate better, all he did was piss off the hippo.

I think they can take the hippo with one well placed shot. I believe that in Africa they may require the gun to be there. Not sure on that though.

One shot elephant with bow. No rifle shot.
