If a guy was going to start putting in for a WA sheep tag and wanted the most remote backpack hunt he could get where there might still be a place a big ram could hide...which hunt should that person put in for?

Wrong State
-
Not really a backpack hunt, even if you were to draw.
-
Definately the wrong state for a backpack hunt for sheep.

Try Area 4 in WY ;). I killed my ram 9 air miles into the wilderness. Two days before the season, I watched an old stud ram close enough I could count all 14 annular rings through the spotting scope, and was reasonably sure he had 38" horn length and a 42" maximum spread. Only about 14" bases, but ...

I hope to be in area 5 this fall. :)

there is no wenaha tag this year. :'( only lick creek for south east tags other than the raffle wafnaws has.

I hope you are - and with a tag with your name on it in your pocket!

Bighorn Crags in ID. Serious back pack hunt.

Done that one (twice), if you want an ass kicker, this is you place. :)

i would be happy just getting a tag :chuckle: it does not have to be a backpack hunt :chuckle:

:yeah:

I would take just about any tag in this state, unfortunately I think I have a better chance of drawing MT sheep.
-
We have a better chance of drawing Montana anything! >:(
-
My only experience is Umtannum and 2 to 3 miles is all the farther you can get from a road.
good luck to all on the draws this year.

Glad you started this tread. I've been buying points and will probably be for a while with this draw system, but I considered putting in for teiton. I don't hear much talk about it but that could be good or bad. However, if I could win the lotto with a raffle tag, I would probably do more homework of that area. I haven't seen the area yet, but the map says it's rough.

Sun river herd in montana give you good options on hunting style. for me two miles with a ram on my pack is plenty .
