I ordered a new 22 yesterday. Its a Ruger Mark111 22/45 Hunter. Anyone have this model? How do you like it?
-
I don't have one but my buddy has a ruger .22 similar to that one. Never got to shoot it. He seems to like it though.
-
I have a Mark II 22/45 and love it.
-
Had one for a few seasons, almost forgot...wow what's that say when you can't remember all the guns you have had? LIFE IS GOOD!! :IBCOOL:
It shot like a champ
I want to die like Grandpa...quietly in my sleep, not kicking and screaming like the passengers of his car!
I want to die in bed, at the age of 102, shot by my 25yo girlfriends jealous husband
-
I have sompin' close, a groushootingmaching!
-
Iceman thats what I bought it for!!! ;)
-
I put a HiViz front sight, and now looking for the rear set... awesome, wickedly accurate.
-
Assuming you like the grip, you made a great choice. Very good shooters. I almost bought one myself, but couldn't get used to the THIN grip of the 22/45. They are great shooters, though.
Check out rimfirecentral or google 22/45 grips mods for instructions on mating 1911 grips to it...will make it look a little nicer and feel EXACTLY like a 1911, if that interests you.
I just couldn't get used to the thin grip, so I ended up with a used MKII and a Neos 6" inox instead. Both will do ~1" @ 25yds, rested, with irons. I bought 'em for plinking around the farm, and a little small game hunting.
Enjoy it!

I love the target grip on mine, fits my big greasy hand real good! :chuckle:
sort of a pain with holstering, but worth the gain in accuracy for me...

I love my MKII grip as well.
Have you held a 22/45? What are your thoughts?
-
No I haven't. I usually like a beefy grip, small grips just sort of disappear in my paw. Maybe I need to go check out the 22/45.... :chuckle:
-
Well, I don't think anyone here is gunna come between you and your "beefy grip."
Nice shootin, btw.

you should check out "one ragged hole" its a ghost ring style rear site. JB

Bird was out there a ways, took three rounds to plink it down, running in the grass ahead of me. After I shot and walked up, three more busted up and gone..... :'(
JDB, where did you see the ghost ring...?
I was thinking of the two tiny HiViz dots, line all three up and plink....
-
I like the aimpoint red dot site. It leaves a small ragged hole :chuckle:

Here is the sights I put on my Ruger 22/45 and I also did the 1911 grip modification, Volquartsen Accurizing Kit, Volquartsen target hammer, Volquartsen extractor and really like the way it feels and shoots. It was a really nice gun originally I just wanted to play I think I spent as much on the upgrades as the gun cost me :)

Have a Ruger MKI BB that I absolutely love. Shooting machine with cheap ammo. Shoots as almost as good with Wal Mart junk as Eley.

Here is a picture of my Ruger 22/45 with the modifications.

Well I went by the Gun shop today and my pistol is in, but they haven't received the release yet!!!!
I've bought maybe 15+ guns in the last 12 years. Never had a delay. I've always gone home the same day with Handguns too, thx to the CPL. What gives? It has been 3-4 years since I bought something from a shop though :dunno:
:o :o 3-4 years without a new gun!! did I just say that??...hey boss I um gotta go shopping, can I leave early?
-
Check out the barrels made for them by Tactical Solutions. My cousin bought one for one of his many Ruger .22 pistols and its pretty sweet. Fluted aluminum with a stainless liner. Its super accurate and very light.

WTF? I filled all the paper work out when I ordered the Pistol? :(
-
i had to wait for a release when i had some of my own guns shipped to me from NY a few years back. had them sent from FFL to FFL, i already owned them, etc and i still had to wait 24 hours. its totally random when they delay them is what i was told.
that said, some of those volquartsen customs are sweet...

Nice gun Dave.
Mikewlaking, tax rebate coming soon, perfect excuse to go stimulate the economy.

I got delayed getting a rifle a while back. I think someone down in Arizona has the same name as me and is a felon. It was irritating but now that it is over I am happy. The "instant check" isn't very instant all the time. You figure if you provide your social security number then you might be cleared of any misidentification but even that didn't work for me. I sound kind of whiny so I better shut up now.
That said I really like the pistol there and wish I could have one for grouse hunting.
-
Hey Smdave, how does that sight package fit into your leather for the gun? I am worried about holstering with that tall of a sight. (I guess I should first ask how tall is it...?)
-
Thanks alot Smdave!!! I spent another $102.95 not counting Gunsmith charges and I havn't even received my pistol yet!!! ;).......................lol
-
My gun is now really tight in the Uncle Mikes holster (I think it is a #4) I am now looking for a bigger holster.
Gunsmith charges? These modifications are something you can do yourself, It was a little overwhelming at first but after looking at how it all went together I was able to understand it. Plenty of help on the internet, found as many drawings as I could and put it all back together. Of course it would not fire the first time :bash: I think it was the sear spring that was in wrong if I remember right.
I guess what I am saying is I took it all apart thinking that if I could not get it back together I could always take it to a gunsmith to have it put back together.

I was just about to say it's come and gone already...then I realized that was the REFUND! The REBATE is still coming.....hmmm? 629? 1895?
-
Smdave you get really funny looks from the Gunsmith when you bring in a new gun completely disassembled in a box!!!! And then ask him if he can put it back together!!! :dunno:
-
The Ruger Marks are IMO about the best 22 auto on the market. They've gotten a little pricey but to get something better you really need to spend a ton more. I'm real partial to the slab side model but they're all top notch.

Think that's embarrassing? When I was a kid one of the Dads on the block had to do that with his Harley :chuckle: :chuckle:

i pulled that dang thing apart to clean it once. after a couple of hours smdave printed off a taken apart exploded drawing of one so i could put it back together. then i put it together. took it apart. fixed mistakes i made, then put it back together again.

The Gun shop hasn't called me to pick up the gun so I stopped in today. They still have not received the relase so they called E. Wenatchee Police Dept. They said they were having Puter problems and it would still be a couple days!!! WTF :bash: :bash:
-
Slider, You will love it, they are great guns and the Volquartsen parts are pretty easy to put in. Heres a pic of mine I sent back to Volquartsen and had the works done to it. Built it for rimfire bullseye but it has turned into my grouse gun. :chuckle:
-
Ka' ching! Schwing!
-
Well I finally picked up my new Pistol!!! :) Darn know I have to go out tommorrow and break her in. ;).................lol

Nice looking bird there Iceman. Caught one, almost, with my Jeep awhile back. I was rolling about 5mph down a very old FS road when the bugger jumped up into my open window. He smacked me in the face a couple times before figuring out the passenger side window was closed and got out my side. I stopped and watched him gather his wits before rolling away. The damn thing followed me for 30+ yards looking up at me and clucking like he wanted something. He's lucky I wasn't hungry. :chuckle:
