Does anyone have a 458 SOCOM? If so, what do you have, and how do you like it? I've been kicking around the idea of building one on a bolt action and I'm just curious what the owners think of theirs.
I originally came up with what I thought was a fairly original idea of taking the WSM brass, cutting it off at the shoulder, and necking it down to take .452 pistol bullets. Then somebody told me that this is essentially a 452 SOCOM. So now I'm rethinking the project and will probably go with the real SOCOM. Although it would be fun to have a gun to burn up those leftover pistol bullets.

I have a Rock River Arms LAR- 458 socom. It's abolutely awesome. Kicks pretty hard, but no harder than my 300 win mag. I'm shooting 350 grain HP's at around 1750fps with around 2300 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.(Thats gonna hurt). Will be elk hunting with it this year. I'll let you know how it does.
It's tough to get ammo for (and damned expensive), so I hope you reload.

Are you shooting factory ammo or reloading? Would you be willing to sell a piece of brass? I'd like to compare one to the "452 SOCOM" dummy that I made.
