Title: Bow Tech Admiral Problems---
Post by: MuleyMadness on April 25, 2010, 10:48:51 AM
So a buddy of mine has a 2008 Admiral...he just put brand new winners choice strings on it and maxed the limbs down to 73lbs....for some reason it seems that his bow doesnt shoot as fast or as good now with the new strings and higher poundage....it actually seems slower than it did when he had it at 65lbs of pull and the factory strings...

Any suggestions here and or any ideas on how to get the bow to shoot faster?

it always takes a little while to get them broke in, it will get faster when they get broke in. it is hard to think so but i have seen it about 50 times do the same thing slow then get faster he just needs to get it broke in. and it will get faster.

when it said bow tech problems i thought it would be another blown up bow :chuckle: :stirthepot:

Not knowing much about your model (or new compounds for that matter), but anytime you work with mechanical stuff like that you will find that there is a point for optimum performance.
Anything on the string will slow it down, silencers, nock points, etc..
Heavier strings will slow it down....
Poundage (weight) does not necessarily transfer to speed, try adjusting it down to see if it changes.
Lighter arrows will increase speed also....

From what I've encountered with WC is unless ordered different they come as a 20 strand string where stock is usually 18 strands thicker string = lower FPS. I lose a couple FPS when I switch over but it's worth it.

Cam timing?  Does it "seem" slower or is it showing slower on a chrono?

Sorry to pick on you, but there is no 2008 Admiral. :)

I think JBar might be right about the string.  You might want to do a quick comparison to see if the string are the same size.
