Title: Crappy Picture
Post by: ouchfoss on April 30, 2010, 05:17:46 PM
I went out to the area where my dad spotted a bear in a tree last year with the hopes of maybe seeing some fresh bark peels or get lucky and spot one in a tree again, but no luck. I did find some fairly fresh crap in the road though and it got me wondering how accurate it is to guess the size of a bear based on its crap. There has been a few times over the years where I have found turds as big around as pop cans before and figured it had to be a HUGE bear but never got to see it to be positive.

Sorry Ouchfoss, that was me.  I had spinach tacos the night before, and I had to go really bad.  Good thing you didn't get it on your tires.   :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

It was fresh enough (at least I think) that I was actually looking around hoping I'd catch him in the woods or in tree so I could get a picture. Wishful thinking I guess.  :chuckle:

Of all the pictures me and my dad have taken over the last year there is probably at least 100 of just poo whether its elk, deer, bear or yote. As odd as it might sound, I'm thinking you and me arent the only ones who get excited about a fresh pile of bear poo.  ;) :chuckle:

guess I'm a poo guy too....I brought back some bone dry Grizpoo from my first Alaska trip.  I woke up to my first full day in the arctic, and walking to my pee spot nearly stepped on a chunk about 5 inches long and 2 inches in dia. It had to be seasons old. I wanted to encase it in acryllic or the like. I did give a chunk to a buddy as a gag gift....here don't say I never gave you cheet :chuckle:
