Title: What did this? Cat or bear?

Went out through the woods today and saw this tree like this. Could see scratch marks on it, from a cat? From a bear? Not the best pics of it...

My bet would be a bear going after the cambium layer.  Nice and sweet.

Bear damage. At least a year ago.
