Anyone know of a good guide for wolf hunting in Alberta? Looking at going there this winter and would like to start picking through who is good or not. Searched for Alberta wolf hunts on google and there is so many I don't know where to start.

I posted up a thread in trapping, you ought to see if those guys do wolf trips, they certainly are onto the wolves....

Have you seen or gotten their (Albertas) publication on guides or outfitters? Its almost a nice book practically, and each outfitter has their own Page or pages per species.
-
They publish it yearly, much like Wyoming does, but its MUCH bigger and MUCH nicer.
-
How do you pick through them and decide who to go with? I'm kind of looking for some names of outfitters that some members have gone with. So that they can say, absolutely I recommend them, I had a great time and killed x or xx amount of wolves.
-
Good thinking. Just not sure there are many that have gone up.
-
I can't link to see what this has(because of firewall at work), but I think this is the organization that puts out that publication APOS

I would concentrate on some of the ones near Banff. They used to outfit elk, but since most of the elk are gone, many have switched to wolves and I know from heresay there are a TON of them around there.

Idaho has some very high wolf concentrations in the right units, why not go there and do your civic duty for our neighbors?

Thanks for the info Bone.
-
Bearpaw, do you know who those guys are from the trapping video?

I might do that also!

I don't know them, but if you listen closely to the guy, you can tell he knows what he is doing, this success is nothing new, he has had lots of success and is just documenting the season. :twocents:
I would love to go with them myself, especially since it would be a trapping adventure.
From reliable sources I also know that there are people in Idaho pushing for wolf trapping... :twocents:

I'm going to try digging up some info on them. If you find anything out will you let me know? I'll do likewise if you want.

It says there in northeastern B.C. I sent him a message on youtube but it doesn't look like he gets on there often so who knows how long till he gets back to me.

Lots of wolves in and around Banff. I have family in Radium, they say that the hunting is suffering due to the wolves.

Do you know of any outfitters around there? I either have to go with a guide or be a guest invite of someone who lives there.

I will ask my cousins next time they call.
