Title: umbrella for bear
Post by: buckhorn2 on May 05, 2010, 08:56:57 AM
Watched a show on the hunting chanell where they used a black umbrella held in front of them to get close to a bear because of the bears poor eyesight he thought it was just another bear. The way the weather has been here on the coast an umbrella could come in handy.

Jim Shockey does that.

I wouldnt do it over here though...wearing black during bear season is a bad idea.

That was a very tragic accident and not a good day for anybody let alone hunters.  Probably not the best idea to laugh at. :twocents:

Unfortunately, that incident was not on my mind at the time I made the comment, I was just following the Umbrella,

You're thinking of the "accident" at Sauk Mountain where the kid shot the hiker? If so, she wasn't wearing black. She was wearing a blue jacket.

I don't think anybody was "laughing" about that accident. It wasn't the topic here.
