Title: Special Draw - antlerless question
Post by: croix on May 05, 2010, 01:06:55 PM
I'm still learning this special draw stuff and have another question.  :bash:

If I get drawn for antlerless deer in the Olympic unit (hunt choice 1207, same dates as modern firearm general season), does that mean my regular season tag is replaced by the special tag? Can I only take an antlerless deer when hunting that unit? Or does that just mean I can take either a buck or antlerless deer in that unit? Finally, does it affect my tag in any way for any of the other GMU's?

The way I see it, I can still only take one deer but I should be able take a buck in any unit (including Olympic) per general season rules, or I could take a doe in the Olympic unit and call it a season. Please let me know if I'm off track on that.

It means you can take 1 or the other if it's an antlerless tag and has no effect on any other GMU.

TAG and PERMIT are two different things.  Unless you drew a second deer tag permit, you have one tag to put on an animal. Your permit allows you to use your one tag on an antlerless animal, during the season allowed by the permit.  You still have only one tag, which means you can kill one animal.

Just as I suspected. Thanks again.
