Is the raised platform a dead necessity, or will a level bow work?

no you can do it from any boat or bank as well the platform helps get the angle better for higher shot % less plane on the arrow also helps to cut down the glare off the water so you can see them better as well. but anyone can do it when i was younger i shot them off the banks and waded out for them for years.

It has been that time of year for almost a month now.  We tore them up at Potholes in 30 some degree weather with 10-15 mph winds.  Doesn't sound like the best conditions, but given the early warmer weather, the carp were there for our taking by the bucket fulls!  Get out there and tear em up!

yeah, some areas were i shooting don't get good untill a little later but diffent places are diffrent depending on time of year. you can bowfish 24/7 if you want but it is always best during the spawn june-july
