Title: Odd Things you have pic's of? I do.

Post by: Kain on May 18, 2010, 02:33:37 PM: A massive burl on a cottonwood tree. Someone cut this down but it would have 10-12' in the air and it was massive. I wish I could have seen it on the live tree.

Post by: BIGINNER on May 20, 2010, 11:13:28 AM: no photo, but the coolest thing i've ever seen was when i was fishing.... i was walking along the shore of a pond and scared a little duckling that was hiding in the bushes. the duckling took off swimming really fast toward the middle of the pond,... and all of a sudden a huge bass jumps out of the water and swallows the duckling!!! it was pretty awsome... i felt a little guilty for scaring the duckling,.... but it was worth seeing that lol

Post by: STIKNSTRINGBOW on May 20, 2010, 11:41:36 AM: That reminds me of a time while bass fishing on Angle Lake when a friend and I watched a bass try to get a duckling, it was old/big enough that the bass could only get ahold of its legs and pull it under.
The duckling would come back up on surface and freak out a little, then get tugged under again, it was hilarious !!

It looked like a giant Bird Turd on top of the stump.
My partner and I stood there and tried to figure out what it was, thought it was one of those things that come off the airplanes or something..
now it just looks like a weird fungi.. :dunno:

Post by: runamuk on May 20, 2010, 01:19:34 PM: well I took pictures of slugs :dunno: I needed them for a drawing I was doing I was creating cartoon slugs and needed a live subject..hate slugs so decided a picture would work....I take pictures then use them in collages and other things when screwing around with photo editing.....my kid got ahold of the camera on a trip and there is a picture of a dock, the dirt, my midsection :rolleyes: and a few other odd pics we didn't realize he had used the camera until we developed the film.....he also took some pictures of a horses nostril when he was little :chuckle:

my dad made a really cool table with a 2 burls. the top is a 3'x3' maple burl and the base is a small burl from a fir tree.

Post by: MikeWalking on May 22, 2010, 03:01:40 PM: Many years back, before all the new trail work I overshot the turn in the dark to Mossy Vista. It's a little clear spot overlooking North Bend reached by the Little Si trail. I stopped and crashed for the night and when I got up I realized I was in a very overgrown road, off of someones driveway I learned..

I followed this grassy lane about 30 yards to a dead end. Steep rock on one side and a little break between the pines leading to a clearing on the other with a good hump in the middle. On the other side of this stone wall is a drop off of 90? feet, pretty steep. 1978 had been carved/fingered into a patch of cement next to a steel lined hole at one corner, about a 2 inch pipe I think. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the wall is/was for.

I've only met him once. Good Guy. Owns a lot of BP rifles, packs fish into stock high mountain lakes.

Jerry & Judy watched me grow up with their kids. I just emailed this to their daughter, Wow.

We were mule deer hunting from the top and didn't know that this was a well-known site. Lots of tracks in there, very cool to find even if we weren't the first. There is a lot of history in that canyon, including tombstones, remnant homesteads, and petroglyphs on most of the canyon walls & caves. We quickly got lost in all of it and forgot about hunting the rest of the day.
