Anyone know about any good bow shops around tacoma?

Yep. I've had good luck with Rainier and my Dad has purchased 3 bows from them. Nice guys - Joe (the owner) is usually busy trying to pay the bills but there is a guy named John that works there that will take his time with you and get you set up. Before I moved to the east side of the state, I used to live about 10 minutes from there. I live on the east side of the mountains now and called and ordered something from them last spring. Joe, the owner, happened to be travelling on I-90, so he just brought the part with him and I met him on the side of the freeway to purchase it. He took time out of his vacation to meet me and saved me the drive over the mountains.
4 of us just bought bows there this week - one guy has picked his up, my Dad just went in today to get his set up, and I'm going in on Saturday to get mine dialed in (just called them today and had them set aside all of the components that I want put on it.) I don't know the 4th guy well - some friend of my dad's.

This may just be me but every time I "WENT" to Rainier archery I was pretty much ignored even though I was the only one in the store. Every time I asked a question they barely answered me and just kind of blew me off like they didnt want to help me. I asked them to put a peep into my string and adjust the draw length. They adjusted the draw length and put my peep in but lost my clamp for my drop away, served it into the wrong spot and didnt tie in the peep. It took them 4 days. I redid it after I bought a press and it took me 10 minuits. It seemed like they didnt want me to be there unless I was dropping one grand on a bow. Has anyone else noticed this? They seem to be popular but if they treat everyone this way I dont know how. I believe customer service is first, without the customer you dont have a business, the guys at rainier archery should remember that, because they lost a customer here.
Shouldn't this have been put in the fishing section? :dunno:

I was having a problem with my bow at a 3d tournament on South Hill and took my bow in to that guy to get something fixed and they took 10 or 15 minutes with me and ended up just fixing it for free - I forgot about Doug on South Hill; I thought he treated me pretty well.

Great Northwest on South hill of Puyallup, as a few have stated, I think Doug is a great bow tech and his customer service is second to none.

I bought a bow @ Ranier archery three years ago and was very unhappy with my bow and service. When I picked up my new Drenalin my center shot was so far in that with my arrow sitting on the string & going through the whisker rest , my arrow was pointing at like 2 oclock. I know all mathews need to be a little inside on center but this was crazy. To compensate for this ( paper tuning ) my top wheel was so tipped ( 30 degrees ) that I don't know how the cable / string stayed on at full draw. I took it back and they did work on it again but it never did shoot right ever. I went back a couiple of times & like stated above was not given the time of day as Joe was to busy. Also as stated I spent a grand and was never satisfied with the quality of my product or service received from Ranier. I took my bow to another shop, had it tuned & worked with the bow shop owner to fine tune and it has shot like a dream ever since. I won't do business there ever again. It would not of taken much service to make me happy. Mike

I bought two bows from Rainer Archery, one for me and one for the wife. Bought them same time same day, got great customer service, after that like said if you were not in there to drop big money they did not even have the time of day for you. Some of the worst customer service I have ever seen displayed.
I now go elsewhere and so does my money.

Crazy to hear the same stories over and over. Some guys get great service they say. :dunno:

Good to hear about the guy in South Hill. Used to go to Rainier quite a bit. Know what most guys are saying, go in drop a grand plus, good service, otherwise unless you are in their inner circle.... Yeah, the service is not that great. I'll have to check out Doug's shop next time Im in need of archery parts.

I have shopped at both Rainier and Not So Great North West Archery, and like most have stated the customer service is lacking in both shops. At Rainier, if your not in the circle then there is no time for you unless you buy your way in.And they charge for every little thing they do to your bow. The only exception for Rainier is Lee, he is the only one I will have a descent conversation with if I have to go in there. And this I coning from a guy who has known Joe for years since his days at Gun and Bow. The problem I have with Not So Great Northwest is that Doug is so full of him self that its not even funny. And besides that e still has pictures of a convicted poacher hanging up on hes back wall of photos, most of you in the local archery world know how that is. The shop that gets my business now is the Federal Way Whole sale sports. I know that it is not the little guy but at least the customer service there is great. Larry and there crew there have it right, you can bring a bow in there that you bought some where else and will tune the whole thing up and send it out the door better than it came in and all you wanted was to have a D-loop put on. Now that's customer service.They do this because they know that when you go to make tat big purchase on a new bow or other items, the good experience you had there the first time will bring you back again. Just my 2 cents.

its not really local but if you want to be treated like a valued customer instead of a dollar sign joe and Dana down at Archery World in Vancouver,Wa will give you good care and valued help even if you dont buy anything. Larry, Ryan and Dennis at Whole sale in Federal Way kick butt and they know there stuff but they dont carry and cant get some of the Mathew like stuff. I have bought bows from Rainer in the past and will never do it again. Joe acts like if you are not there to buy a new bow he doesnt even want you there.Lee is pretty good to deal with but I hate knowing that Joe is getting my money in the end. Check out Archery World, its worth the 2 hour drive

I will tell you, if you know what you want,go to rainer.If you dont. and want honesty go to fletch setter in the town of rainer by yelm.Craig Norris is the owner and he does a gret job. Doug @ great nw is a nice guy but he is a flake,Joe@ rainer will talk to you if you have a big roll of cash in your hand.If you go to rainer deal with Lee(Black Guy),hes very nice and can help you.I drive apx 45miles to have craig do whatever even just for glue,vanes.Dont Take Your Bow To Cabellas.......... :yike:
