2009 was my 2nd season using Havalon in 2 yrs I have used it on 2 deer & one elk on the same blade it is the best knife I have ever used. If you order one Buy an extra pack of blades and you will be set for years to come . The blades lock in firm with no play and you can get different blade for cape work. Hands down there light & strong and a knife you will have for many years. :tup:

i used one to make the initial cuts on my bear for a rug this year. very good for getting strait lines on the hide/capes but i would not take my other knife out of my pack for this one. i much prefer a traditional style knife for gutting and skinning. but its so light theres no reason not to have it in the pack also

I don't have one yet but I will before the fall. Quite a few guides have been using them for a while now.

For a few years I have kept a carpet installers knife in my game success kit. Double sided surgically sharp blades, a medium sized handle and cheap too. Used it on two elk, a deer and a bear so far. I do not carry it with me as I hunt, but it is with my packboard in a success kit I keep attached. I really appreciate the wickedly sharp thin blade.

I have one and it is a great knife. I thought I lost it after chukar hunting last year and ended up skinning a couple critters with my regular knives. What a chore. As luck would have it I found it the other day in the drawer that my wife throws everything to be out of site. As for what Bob said above it is a great knife and you can buy many different blades to fit it for many different applications.

how solid do the blades lock on i am pretty ruff with knifes, i have been using a razor knife for years but these look nice but an wondering on the locking system. also what blade do you guys like they have like 5-6 types.

Ive got three of their knives and they are awesome. I use the 60xt and the 22xt blades. the 22's have a blunt tip so it makes it an awesome for skinning. I bought 100 blades for each style and I doubt I will ever use them all. I used one to skin my whitetail and after I was done I ran the blade down a leather belt a few times and it will shave hair. I still pack a larger folder for gutting though.

I use the #22's. As for solid, they are a very solid, light weight knife. You do not have to worry about the blade popping off. If you do own one make sure you have some type of multi-tool with plier if you want to remove blades while out in the woods. You could probably do it by hand, but I would not reccommend it :bdid: It would be better to change the blades out at home and a fresh blade would get you through quite a bit before going dull.

I love mine.I have had mine for several years now and have done alot of cutting with it.They are to sharp,imo to skin/cape with.If,you are not concerned about the hide they work great for skinning quick(holes).The blades are surgical steel,very sharp but are brittle.I wouldn't recommend prying,or putting a lot of presssure down on blade(slashing),the blades break in pieces.I would also recommend a knife sheath from them for the extra$5.It holds a dozen blades and works well.I would also recommend getting the blaze orange handle,as it is to sharp to misplace.just my thoughts.
