Title: Savage
Post by: Jeremy S on May 18, 2010, 09:25:13 PM
I came across a savage .243 with accu-trigger. It says youth model on the stock, and the only description on the barrel is model II. I've been looking around on line to find the value as well as if I can extend the stock with a butte pad before I decide to purchase. If anyone has any info on these please let me know.

I believe you have come across a Model 11.  Assuming it is in great shape, it is worth $400-500.  Tend to be very solid, accurate rifles.  If I could pick it up for $300, I would do so and drop $100 on a full-size replacement stock.  That's my  :twocents:, and worth every penny!

$532 new from buds with a cheap scope on it, if it's a youth model it might be easier to just change the stock. I have an OE model 10 synthetic stock that you can have for it if you want.

I may post a few pics tonight just to make sure. I have two weeks to see if I really want to buy it.

SORRY, thats a great offer...There was more intended for that post but I had to go.

You need to check the length of the action screws to make sure they're the same. Accutrigger and non-accutriggers will be different along with blind mag or not blind magazine...bottom metal or not bottom metal. that 11 should be 4.25" between the screws I think. If FC's stock doesn't work out for whatever reason all the options are usually available on ebay cheap enough and the tupperware stocks can be reinforced and stiffened up if needed.

The nice thing about the youth model guns is that you can put a full sized stock on it and still have the youth length barrel which will make for a nice lightweight backpack rig.
I had a model 10 rifle that I did that with but have since sold it to a member on here. It's a good shooter too.

The stock I have is for a new style (4.41" spacing) short action with accu trigger and center feed magazine. It fits current model 10, 11 and 12 short action only. The 2 most recent options measure out at 4.41 or 4.275 measured from center to center of the front two action screws, if it's the older style this stock won't fit but there are lots of options available aftermarket.

After looking a little closer I can see it's definitely model 11. I don't know savages too well so I saw the "ll" and just figured it meant two.

I was just gunna say, after seeing the pictures, it looks like the $384 +tax Savage package rifle from Walmart. Good shooters and the accutrigger is amazing. A stock replacement to something more stable would be a wise choice.

I put a B&C medalist on mine and dumped the scope for a buschnell banner 4-12x40, both gave minimal increases in accuracy but made it a lot more consistent and more comfortable to shoot.
