Once again I just got some great pictures of my neighborhood bucks. :rockin: I was pretty sure I had at least 3 bucks on my first camera setup. I thought I lowered it enough to get a better view of the bucks, but once again It seemed to miss them and get just ears and some of the racks :bash:.
Since then I added another camera, sitting on a saltlick covered with a block topper. It worked well and I got some nice pictures. I now have confirmed 4 bucks visiting my setup. One small buck and the other three bucks look to have good potential. I get happy when I see big blacktails! :IBCOOL: The one with good eyeguards definetly has my attention. I also got pictures of 1 opossum and raccoon visiting my saltlick setup.
The trail camera addiction is in full swing. Thanks for looking.

-
what kind of lick are you using and what is a block topper. just set up my trail camera for the first time last night and not sure what the best attractant is for blacktails
-
Ridgefire, Here is the link that has information about block topper.

I don't know if this is best for blacktails. :dunno: I have heard many things that work best and from my conversations with people that seem to know what they are talking about. Apples seem to be the best attractant. I haven't used apples before, but I will put some out next time I check my cameras. I actually ordered the block topper for whitetails when I lived in Pullman, but I never got a chance to try it out. Basically, you put out a saltlick of any kind and cover it with block topper and it makes like a candy coat over the saltlick. Seems to be a good idea and as far as my pictures show the deer came in to check it out. :twocents:
The block/saltlick I used was an apple flavored saltlick made by evolved habitat. I figured that since I didn't have apples I might as well use apple flavor. :twocents:
Let me know what works for you?
Hitman...I wish I had room for you to help take out some deer but I think this will be my honey hole for now. What awesome spot do you have to share with me? I might be willing to trade spots...whatcha got for elk problems that I can help you with :bumpin:
Ben, get those pictures...Are you hunting muzzy for both seasons this year?
-
Mike already posted the pictures from today. Looks like we got a dink and one with some hope. As far as hunting this year, Yep strictly muzzy for me. I just ordered some deer cane and some rack-up mineral. We will have to see how it all works out. Definitely bit by the bug :chuckle:
