Title: Stupid question because of my stupid decision...
Post by: Mr Mykiss on May 24, 2010, 07:00:59 PM: I'm hoping this is the right place for this question...with 2 days left before the special permit draws... is it legal to change out my general archery '10 tag for a general Muzz '10 tag. I only put in for points on the special permit hunts so that shouldn't change anything. Has anybody done this?

If he is able to do that he must have a friend at the WDFW.

Post by: carpsniperg2 on May 24, 2010, 11:42:58 PM: anyone can change there tag bobcat i have done it before as well, i have changed from modern firearm to muzzle before the early muzzle season the first year i ever hunted muzzle got a new muzzle and decided i wanted to hunt that year and not wait tell next year to hunt with it. and no friends at fish and wildlife or we would have a moose tag and sheep tag and goat tag and we have not drawn crap. so i don't know what you are talking about i know first hand.

Just what I've heard. If tags really can be exchanged there would be a lot of people buying eastside elk tags and applying for eastside permits, then if nothing is drawn, switching over to a westside tag.

??? You applied for a special permit so you cannot exchange your tag after 5:00 PM on May 26th. (tomorrow)

Again... did you call yet? If not... 360-902-2464 They're really nice down there, don't be afraid to call and talk to them. ;)

Post by: WDFW Hates ME!!! on May 25, 2010, 07:52:28 PM: I know for a fact that once te drawing takes place you can not change your tags, 2 years ago i applied for rifle elk permits and didn't draw, i had to go to work in montana during the rifle season so i wanted to switch to muzzy, got a no vote... Didn't hunt elk that year. I called everybody that would listen and every response was "did you apply for permits?" Answer was yes, so there answer was no.

Why don't you know? Do you not read the others posts, or do you not believe the WDFW regulations which were posted?

JUST BECAUSE THE REGS SAYS ONE THING DOES NOT MEAN THERE ARE NOT SYSTEM ERRORS THAT PEOPLE GET A TAG WHEN THEY SHOULD NOT OR GET TO DO SOMTHING THAT IT SAYS YOU CAN'T.
FOR EXAMPLE I DREW A DOG TAG LAST YEAR THEN IT SWITCHED TO BOOT TAG THEN SWITCHED BACK TO DOG TAG THEN BACK TO BOOT. I SPENT HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH THIS AND NEVER GOT ANY WERE THE SYSTEM DOES SOMTIMES MAKE MISTAKES. CAN I BE MORE CLEAR.
JUST BECAUSE IT SAYS IT IN THE REGS DOES NOT MEAN THERE CAN'T BE MISTAKES.

But as you can see from the replies on here, a few people have tried to do just what you are saying your friend does, and they have not been allowed to do so.

(OR, he's not telling the truth) :dunno:

sometimes some thing work for one guy and it does not work for others :dunno: is my point,

Actually, I find the more I post, the less time I have to read others... :dunno:

I wouldn't yell at Bob33...he seems to know more about Game regs and processes than just about anyone on here...

It took me a while but I finally got in touch with somebody at WDFW who was high enough up to be able to help me. He had to override the system so that the store could even exchange my tag for me. In exchange, and the only reason they let me do it, was because I voluntarily offered to forfeit my additional point for the year.
