i always here of people getting there trail cameras stolen but when i went out and set up my two new cameras for the first time i didn't figure it would happen to me. Wrong! after a month soak went back to check them out and the one i had in my elk area was stolen >:( :bash:. i guess i should have known better. oh well. i got a bunch of pictures of does and a coyote on my deer cam.
-
Sorry to hear about that. Was your camera locked to the tree? Just curious. I have a Scoutguard SG550V trailcam with a metal "bear proof" box that is secured to the tree with a Python cable lock. Haven't used it off of my property yet, but wonder to what extremes someone would go to to steal the setup and if it's really "theft proof"?
-
nope. thought i would be alright where i was. it will be next time.
-
Man, that sucks! I think I'll get a few of the cable locks at WalMart today for mine. Even though they're on private land I suppose they're not completely safe.
-
trail cams are never safe.
Sorry to hear that your camera got stolen. I keep expecting someone to get arrested and find out that there are a storage unit full of trail cameras in it, but it is just my hope that there is only one immoral individual stealing all the cameras, when we know that it is whole bunch of immoral folks stealing cameras.
-
the sad part of it is that we are pretty sure who it was. and the only reason they took it is so we wouldn't know what bulls were in that area. even though we've hunted that area way longer then he has.
-
yeah that sucks makes a guy want to put a bear trap at the base of the tree and brush it in with leaves and etc :chuckle:

Hang one back in the same spot... then climb a tree about 40 feet away and hang one up there about 30 feet, fairly concealed... then get pics of whoever the ass wipe is that is taking the cams....
Then.... Go visit him...

The stink thrower vs trap that will inflict harm. I like the stink thrower idea. Much easier in court
q. - so you set up a booby trap on your camera
a - yes,
q - Is it designed to harm
a - no
q - then what does trap do
a - it throws feces at whoever might steal it
q - so the camera has to be stolen for the feces to be thrown
a - yes
-
well... just bought a replacement camera off cabelas.com. theres a waste of money :bash: hope i can hold onto this one. also bought security box and the anoconda lock.
