Title: Hornets nest
Post by: daydreamn on June 01, 2010, 09:17:21 PM
Anyone have any suggestions on how to preserve a hornets nest?  Ill be using one as part of a bear mount Im working on.  They seem to fall apart too easily.

Clear coat in many layers.  Then don't friggin touch it, move it, sneeze around it, pass gass, yell at the wife or kids.. Don't go near it!

And it'll be fine!   :chuckle:

You should see when I gel my chest hairs  :yike:  ..   I will take you fishing as soon as I get back, I will bring the magnifying glass so you can use it to thread the line through your lure at your age I KNOW your eyesight is not what it used to be.....  :chuckle: :chuckle:

That about sums it up. Also make sure there are no critters in it. I cut one down  late one fall while bow hunting, It warmed up in the rig on the way home and i had wasps/bees crawling all over the place. So be Careful.

Aqua net will work.  Just make sure the bees are out.  They come out faster than you can kill them all.

Uh, thanks.  :dunno: I have a feeling that JackOfAllTrades had the best suggestion with the second half of his comment.  Well see how it turns out.

i was thinking some sort of resin like boat fiberglass stuff. Might be better to just use a repro in the longrun though.. good luck.

you might try automotive clear coat with bumper flex agent . i would think it may hold up better.
