Anyone ever go on the high buck hunts? I was thinking about doing it this year but am still undecided on it. Wont make up my mind until after permits are drawn I'm sure. Will either go with the alpine or sinlahekin areas.

Yep, we used to go every year. Was a good time. Haven't done it in a few years. It takes a lot of time before hand to find a productive area, don't have the time anymore.

Just do a search on High Hunt and you will find enough info to keep you busy.

Yes, it can be a lot of fun and a lot of work. If in the Alpine Lakes you will have a lot of people due to the proximity to the city. You can still get away from them. Think of the main trails as your way to get in and then due some cross-country travel (off-trail). Make sure you are well versed in map and compass use before going off trail for sure or you can get in trouble.

Sinlahekin? Don't you mean to say Pasayten? The Sinlahekin is not open for the high hunt.

Here we go again, must be that time of year again.

oops. Yes I meant pasayten. Sinlahekin is one of the special tags I put in for, just got the two mixed up.

well it is the first available hunting dates, other than grouse and bears and stuff so I think all the cabin fever kicks in and everyone gets antsy....me I am antsy for bear and now after today I want to go bobby cat hunting :bash: :bash: I already spend some of my time right at the boundaries of the wilderness areas figure one of these seasons I will climb just a bit higher ;)
