I am looking for someone to show me how/where to fish the Klickitat river. I do not want to know your secret spots, just someone to show me the ropes, and where to go fish from the bank on the lower river. I live close by, and I pay my way. I refuse to pay 250.00 a seat for one of the guide services. That is nutso.

I agree guides are not cheap... but honestly, I think most are worth it (if they are reputable) for a one time deal to help you learn an area.

My sister and my Mom chipped in to pay a guide to fish it this summer (acutally my sis, bro in law and I are all going). I am stoked. I get it though, I have only paid for a guide once in my life and wince at the thought of paying guide fees. Good experience, but spendy...
this past year in particular I spend so much time between school and work that a guide is even more understandable to me than before. Make the most of the few opportunities I get.

You might PM 7mmfan, he is a guide on the Klick. He might provide you with some good starting points. And hopefully he can improve your opinion of guides. I wouldn't criticize his means of making a living right before asking him for information though.

Like I said when I saw the river I thought it looked like a great fly fishing river and I know nothing of fly fishing just had that look..... if it was me I'd just pick a nice spot to park myself and start tossing in some line :dunno: ..... I don't know anything about fishing rivers at all though....

I agree totally. Guides earn their money. I just can not afford to drop 250.00 for 6-8 hrs. of fishing. I was just asking for some bank spots on the lower part of the river, to start fishing, maybe some tips on what works and what does not, so I can start learning the river. I was not asking for anything more.

yeah I'm with you guys there. if I can try to fit in one guided trip a year (be it bird hunting or fishing) I feel like I'm doing good. Even that can be hard, but it's always a successful trip. learning or otherwise.

There is miles of roads along the river. Just drive it and park at a hole you want to fish. THere aren't any secrets to the Klick its just standard steelhead and salmon fishin. Its gonna be awhile before its fishable its raging still.
