I shoot the G5 striker ( replaceable blades ) and really like them, I've been shooting them for two years and have 4 new ones left overfrom last year. I noticed the chisel point was not to sharp & I could push my finger onto it very hard. I needed more & bought three yesterday & they are the same. ( I thought my others dulled from going in & out of the quiver or ? ). It seems to me that the point should be more piercing , I'm thinking of taking a jewelers file to them & sharpen the chisel point up. I like the replaceable blades because I think they are sharper than I could keep. Would you sharpen the chisel point or is it good enough when flying as fast as the arrows do ? Seems like sharpening couldn't hurt , but would hate to ruin a $ 100 in broadheads. Thanks for your input. Mike

im sure they are good, but that being said i would want the sharpest point i could get,(thats why i love slick tricks) i dont see a problem filing them. shouldnt take much. or get a nice stone and sharpen them that way. you wont hurt emm.

I wouldn't mess with them. They are made to break bones and the blades are for cutting. But it couldn't hurt to sharpen them a bit, so have at it if you wish.

Couldn't hurt, but could help, so I say file away!

what you have is the stikers by the sounds of it the montecs are what i shoot and they are a soild all one piece broadhead they are mage by the company G5 who also make the striker which is what you have the model montec does not have replacement blades so you would have to have the striker or striker xl if they are fixed blades.

Your right carp they are made by G5 and are the strikers. I'm still on the fence, sounds like most of you are also. Part of me says don't mess with it and the other says sharpen away. Mike

i would just switch to new ones for hunting or atleast sharp ones and save the duller ones for pratice or grouse if i were you i shoot the montecs and like them alot

I have shot strikers for the last three years. I shoot more with my broadheads then with field tips, and have sharpened both the blades and the points, and have had no problems with flight. Now if the tip is rolled over a little then I would not try to sharpen it but if its just dull from shooting targets or your quiver which will dull blades then get a good diamond flat stone and make a few passes it will be like brand new. Keep in mind that you can only do this so many times before you start to change the weight and dynamics of the head. I suggest you keep 6 heads just for hunting, and three or four for practice religously, and dont shoot multipule arrows at the same point of aim. These IMO are the best flying heads I have ever shot, and I have tried a lot of heads.. I shot the Slick trick for a couple years when they first came out and they are ecxellent heads aswell, the only reason I went away from them is the quailty, I was getting blades that had over heated when sharpened leaving heat stain on the cutting edge. I think now though they have got there quality control under check since they have big contracts with large distributors. Blades are cheap, ferrals no so. Worst case try a few if your not happy buy new.
