i hunted it last year with my cousin by marriage and his younger brother who had the youth moose tag. if you look back threw you might be able to find the pics and story from last year. it was a blast he got his cow first thing in the morning then shot a cow elk with a muzzle loader that eve as well what a day. he had never even killed a deer before and got a moose and elk same day  :chuckle: it was a blast and to see the look on his face was somthing i will never forget. if you have any questions you can shoot me a pm and i can tell you were we hunted at if you don't know the unit i would be glad to help the best i can. congrats to him a lot of great meat

Congrats!!! That sounds like it's going to be a fun hunt.
-
That's great, I was hoping my son would draw that tag but in 5 tries he never did.
-
Jeremiah had 2 points. Its going to be a good time. We are making our first trip over there in september to drop off the trailer at our uncles house and do some scouting. Its nice to have relatives where you draw a permit thats 6 hours away from home.
-
What luck! Only 2 points, WOW! That should be a great time for you. My son had 6 points.... Nuttin. Next year will be his last year with 7 points.....
Congrats to your son. It will be a blast!
-
My son drew the tag too. He also got one of the two Pine Mt. Ranch buck tags. He had 6 points. I'm going to look up these old posts, don't know anything about the area. I expect we will have some moose in the locker this fall though.

My youngest drew that tag in 08 it's a great time in the 2 weekends we hunted we seen more bulls then we did cows. bring a video camera also. good luck to both of you! My youngest drew the silver dollar any elk tag this year which is his last year as a youth. Let me know if you need some info. Mark

mkcj did your son ever tag a moose with that permit?
-
Yes on Saturday morning of the 2nd weekend. get yourself an Inland empire paper company permit to hunt there land and head up the Thompson creek drainage you will find all the cow moose you want. Look for bulls early in the season they will be in the rut and there will be a cow close by. I bought 2 spools of 1/2 rope 600' each that along with a pulley and a small chain saw should get your cow pulled out to a road. Oh and 2 talkabouts to communicate while pulling. PM me when you have a map and I will tell you right where we seen all our moose. Mark

That's awesome! What kind of rifle is he going to hunt with?
-
Thanks for the tip on the rope and pulley mkcj. I should probably bite the bullet and by a spool. Probably have to bone out the quarters otherwise. Haven't even scouted and already talking about packing it out. :chuckle: I drew a multi-season elk but with the boys moose and his Pine Mt. buck tag I won't have room in the freezer or belly to even shoot anything! :chuckle:
