Well I have wanted one for awhile now since reading everyones comments on this bow (expecially Bone). So I emailed the bowyer (hornseeker) about getting one made, unfortunately he could not do it at this time. So off I went searching the internet and finally after a few months of keeping my eye out on stickbow and tradgang.... one came up for sale. I bought it immediately and it is now mine! Now those of you who know me... you all know I have (in the words of Matt) gone crazy on buying bows... well #14 trad bow is now in the house. WIth the #15 coming soon from Curt Brisky .... I have to say I am extremely happy with the Hawk, 62" and 52@28, so with my DL of 30 it is around 58#'s. I can tell you it is without a doubt one of the smoothest and quietest bows I have had the pleasure of shooting. I have yet to shoot it through a chrono, but I think it is as fast as my kabekona LB.... which was 204 feet/sec with a 400 Gr arrow. Of course it still is a bit behind the OL Adcock ACS CX which was clocked at 223 F/Sec with a 500GR arrow of course that is with me pulling 65#'s. Wasn't sure about getting a TD, but it is light and a very good looking bow! Big thanks to the bowyer.

Great looking bow!
-
SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still owe the bowyer some new pics of mine.
-
looks very nice
-
Beautiful!! Did you know Curt Brisky puts on a bow building class and you can build your own. I am going to do it some day when I have the time, I work with curt at BP.
-
Yep, I plan on taking that class from Curt one of these days. I have had the opportunity to shoot with Curt, great guy.
-
Sweet looking bow, I have a new one almost finished, can't wait to get it. It's coming with an extra set of limbs.
-
and its getting closer all the time Fred... I am very embarrassed on how long it has taken.. :(.it just seems that Life keeps happening!!!) Lets say 2 weeks man.... ;)
NWW...I'm glad you like the bow. Let me know when you chrono it. My bows have been tested side by side with ACS's several times and have been withing a foot or two, up and down.. . ;)
What grain arrow will you be shooting out of it? Are you sure you draw 30? That is going to smoke.... how heavy was the ACS bow when you got 223?
Boneaddict above is shooting a 550 or so arrow at about 220-225fps... but he draws another 1 1/2 inches too!!!
Thanks! Wish I had more time to make these and get them in guys hands.
-
Hey..sorry for the horrible white, fairly sloppy writing on that bow.....if you ever get a wild hair...send the riser back to me and I'll redo that writing and refinish it for free... (maybe someday when it needs it huh??)
-
Ernie,
Not sure I will ever let it get away from me long enoguh to get you to do that! Maybe when I get another I might but it looks good to me. The ACS chrono'd that speed with a 500 graing arrow and I was pulling right at 65#'s. I will chrono it this weekend if the shop has it set up when I go shoot there.

No need to be worried Ernie, I'm a patient man, it's WELL worth the wait. 2 weeks would be awesome. Thanks!

Thanks...
NWW, look forward to what you get out of it.
-
Definitely a good investment. I like mine. Fast shooter, smooth draw. I like the character of that one.
-
What NWW has failed to mention is that he has aquired 15 bows in less than a year. :yike: Ren step away from the computer. :P
-
Yep 15 and counting. Its Don's fault... he keeps showing me bows I just can't live without. :yike: Ernie also just gave me 2 others to look at that every bow junkie should have.... a bigfoot wookie and a whippenstic might be coming my way as a retirement gift to myself.... ;) Problem is you just can't shoot them all at once.
-
NWW,
Shoot them all man... shoot them a bunch... in time...you will see that there are a few standouts...and if you are open minded, you may realize they are not the standouts that everyone told you about. However, you will also learn that just about anyone of them will get the job done for you! It depends on what you really want. There are many attributes a traditional bow can posess...very few have "all of them"...
The Big Foot Bow is a "sasquatch"...T/D preferably... If you want a sweet and fast bow...it is it, along with the whippenstic longbow or recurve (which I think is called a Hell fire)...
After I get Freds bow all put together, I'll get this 64" incher all trimmed up and maybe you can give it a go... 64" is better for you anyway! :tung:
-
Looking forward to the 64"er! Good advice and I will keep shooting them all.
-
One of these days I need a little bow rehab Ernie. Its taken a beatin'.
-
Really? The new one?
Send it anytime Doug..... I am going to have to put together another bow or two for the girls huh....
-
What do all these bows cost? I am just looking for a range - maybe a high and a low?

Really depends on the bow. You can spend from $100 for a cheap recurve up to and probably more than $1200 for a custom longbow or recurve. Go to tradgang and check out the classifieds there, or stickbow.com that will give you an idea on used bows.
-
thank you
-
Yep, they are growing Ernie.
No, the original one. The new one looks good as new, coarse I didn't hunt with it last season. ;) This is its inaguaral year. Looking forward to some field pics.
The original is still fine, just after a couple hard years in the bush including Alaska and NM, it needs a facelift. I should get it to you so I can have it as a backup if I need it. Do you have time for it. I know you are busy.
-
I can fit in a refinish pretty easily.....
-
COOL! Thanks!
-
I wonder how many arrows have gone through that thing.
-
Man that Sapphire is just tough to get used to.... ;) Took it out this weekend after shooting it for 3 days... shot in the WSAA Outdoor State Championship.... Not only did I win it (Trad) but I beat my personal best scores in the Field and Hunter rounds, tied my best in the animal round... Ladies and Gentlemen I think this bow is a shooter. :P
-
I guess you're going to have to add that one to your long list of bows in the signature line. I was out shooting mine today at my friend's place. He was impressed.

Sweet congrats!
-
I see you only have 8 bows listed in your line, but you have 14 or 15... tell us what else you have?
And congrats! I'm glad it is a shooter for you. When I finished that bow I grabbed some random arrows and walked out the door and was absolutely STACKING them together in the target. That bow is just a shooter... period... I mean, every bow I build is a shooter, but THAT bow just made it easier than ever....
Freds ought to be similar! By the way Fred, I broke my toe Friday night and did not spend an F'ing minute in the shop this weekend... I know...excuses, excuses.... :dunno:
-
Ouch, stop kicking things! Better heal up soon, elk season ain't so far away!!
P.S. That last line is meant so you can elk hunt, not because I want my bow any quicker... :P Needed to clairify that!!
-
I took a 70 yard ride on my KDX with my tevas on and made a bad call on getting a little air at a ditch... ugly...
-
Ouch :o
-

-
Dang...you do have a bunch!
You dont have any of the Big Guys though! (besides the ACS)...
What about a Silvertip? Robertson? Toelke? Centaur? Black Widow?
You have a Long Ways to go my friend!!!
I"ll keep you posted on the 64"er... Limping around now and will get Freds bow done asap... have a few more to get done, then I can get to finishing up that 64... Its a nice bow too....and I'd like to keep it  But I also need a new camera!!!
-
I have been eyeing the Centaur double carbon's.... and Toelke whips... along with a few others. Currently working with Kirk Lavender on a TD Sasquatch.... There are way too many nice bows out there!
-
Toelke makes a great bow! Man I wish I had one of those too.
-
You wont be sorry getting ahold of the sasquatch... that is one fantastic bow. Faster than Greased lightning, smooth drawing and easy pointing.... oh...and top notch craftsmanship too!!
I really like Dan's bows as well... and I'll tell ya what, Longbow or Recurve either one, you cannot go wrong with a Schafer Silvertip.....
-
Ernie... you trying to get me divorced now aren't you.... ;) I have seen the Silvertips.. and if they shoot as good as they look they are an awesome bow. Actually trying to sell a couple I don't shoot right now and re-invest into some I want to try.
-
I think I'm going with a Bezaleel Bobcat as my next purchase. Not sure when. I heard those Silvertips are good but never shot one.
