This is the skull from the cougar that I called in and shot in Feb. '10. I had this skull and a bear that belongs to Rufous cleaned up by my friend, Gary Haas, who owns Big Sky Beetle Works in Florence, MT recently. I noticed that his lower left eye lid was torn and that he had numerous fresh cuts in the hide on his head and elsewhere when I first looked him over. We also noticed a "bump" in the bone of his snout when we skinned the head, but had no idea of the bite marks in the bone.
I would like to have heard the cat fight that produced these bite marks....who won the fight ??
( can't get the pictures to post with this so will try to add in a minute)

Ouch Gramps! Looks like that guy got his butt kicked...

Wouldn't surprise me if the broken nose came from a cow elk hoof. They've got plenty of power and plenty of reason to be kicking.

That was one unhappy puddy tat.

I saw the skull in person and it does look like it had been bitten there. A neat trophy for sure.
