Title: sinlahekin white tail
Post by: slinger on June 28, 2010, 05:32:55 AM
brother in-law drew late whitetail for sinlahekin. Are there some nice whitetail bucks in that unit that are not on private land?

Very few bucks in there that score more than 130".   Some better bucks on private land, but most are leased.

Lots of public on the wildlife area and quite a bunch of deer.  I'd love to photograph it in November but will be busy.  That is some serious sheep country.

The majority of bucks in that unit are spindly little three points. There are bigger ones out there, but you should be more than happy with a deer like this with that tag.

I hunted up there a few years back on opening weekend.  Didn't connect with anything, but we saw 2 WT bucks in the 130-140 range.  They were pretty far off, and couldn't close the distance before they disappeared.  That was during the general season, and on public land.

There are some great WT bucks in that valley. Drive through there just about any evening and you will see just what Bone posted above, several times. I ALWAYS drive through there when we get over there. From June to February you will see bucks if you are looking. We used to go over and fish every June and we would take the binocs just to watch the deer on the hillsides from the boat. When there is snow on the ground it can really be cool. There are great deer taken each fall both on public and private land in that area. Do a little looking and you will get a buck to be proud of. It will most likely not be 200 inches but worth the tag you drew. Good luck and be sure to post the victory pictures .

Hey Mossback.  Maybe you didn't know this, but I have the title of "worst photographer" on this site.  What the hell are you trying to do, edge me out?   :nono:C'mon, I know you took a better pic than that.... :chuckle:

I go over to conconully every year to hunt mulies... and I love to take a couple days and hunt for the wt's in the sinlahikan. Usually in the middle of the week when there are less hunters.
