I was drawn for the toutle elk anterless achery for 2010. I hunt Coweeman for archery most of the time but I have never had the chance to hunt toutle. I normally enter Coweeman off the 4100 RD across the bridge. I was planning on hunting toutle off the 4100 RD because I know where the access point is. I would greatly appreciate some help on some other access roads that I should check out or other areas that I should focus on so I can fill my freezer. I hope that the fire danger will be lifted before the season starts. I will be mountian biking in. Thank you for the help.

Take the 4100 up to the 4200 and follow it along the main ridge between North Fork and South Fork. There are several gates off the mainline that all have elk behind them. There are a bunch of big clearcuts off to the right once you get up there a ways that always have elk hanging around. Park at any of those gates and hop on a bike and start cruising.
Good luck!

exactly what the guy said on the previous post, you need to ask no more.. Follow exactly what the guy said above and go scout now before they close the woods, and come the end of September post your story.. Now you no what you need to know!! get a map at the store in Toutle too..!! and you dont need your mt bike just good boots!! And shoot the first decent 5x you see.. and dont leave your windows cracked in your truck cause its so hot out cause the horse flies will fill the cab of ur truck!!! seriously!! :yike:

And shoot the first decent 5x you see..
Don't follow that advice since you have an anterless tag :chuckle: or maybe Elkpiss is trying to get 10 poacher points :chuckle:

Thank you for the advise. Has anyone hunted the loo-wit toutle border?

The 3000 rd. (loowit/toutle border) will be loaded with all the bull hunters. I would look else where if I were cow hunting. The whole unit is good elk hunting.

That is good info thank you

I couldn't agree more. That 4200 holds good numbers. Shouldn't be a problem if you get after if. If all of it is shut down look at the state land off of Rock Creek Road on your way up to Cougar. That area holds good numbers and has access. Good luck.
