It said that they would be sending a maps of what gates would be opened a week before the hunt. I prefer the gates stay closed but that's just me.

Skinnyman I think you need to buy your second deer permit, they won't send it to you until you pay up.

Just like with any other special permit, I think you should receive the permit in the mail. You will need to have the permit on you while hunting, and the 2nd tag you purchased. The permit will have the unit and season listed.

Are you sure? They don't usually send "confirmation." Your confirmation IS your permit, usually. ???

I finally had to go down to the Olympia WDFW office and they logged in with my WILD I.D. number and printed out an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper that showed I was successful in drawing the permit. The lady who helped me seemed to feel that it was somehow my fault. :dunno:

I was surprised they couldn't give me a duplicate of what the actual permit SHOULD have looked like (postcard size.) My hunting partner had also drawn the same permit because we had applied as partners, and he also did not receive his in the mail. So I had her print out one for him as well. I don't think they ever really believed that we simply did not receive the permits in the mail. But I'm not sure what the motive would be for lying about it. ???

My brother talked with F&W today and they said that all the permits have not even been printed yet. They will also be sent out according to hunt number so you may not get both in the same day. They said that if permits haven't been received by the end of the next two weeks to call back.

I drew second deer and the any moose in Mt Spokane. The permits should be here by now. maybe the furlough day slowed them down... But that is just the notification, not your actual permits, correct?

The permit should show the unit and season for your hunt.

But still, you're 2nd deer tag is not valid without having the permit on your person. :dunno:

Now you're starting to see the beauty of the system. You get to pay to apply for a bunch of years. Then you magically get selected one year, and then you get to pay an extra $26 for the second tag at the vendor. Don't forget to carry the permit and the second tag with you when hunting for at least the second deer; never drawn moose, so I don't know about that.

wish I could use the second deer tag first, but that season doesn't start till Dec. 16. and my Bull tag runs during deer general, gonna be kind busy.

I received notification about my moose draw the first week of July. I went in July 7 and paid for the tag and was told it would be about a week before I received the "packet" with the tag, map and some other info in it. Still have not received the packet. But last week I received a notificatiion similar to others letting me know what I was/wasn't drawn for and my point totals.

One of the other moose permit holders was informed it would likely be three weeks after payment before receiving his packet.

Well, the tag you should have received when you paid for it. My dad drew a cow moose permit in '06 and never received a packet. So I guess I wouldn't count on getting it. I didn't draw any permits this year and have not received any notification in the mail, and at this point, I don't expect I will. Two years ago my brother and I did not receive the deer permits we drew. Their track record lately doesn't seem to be real good.

This is the second year in a row I drew the Stella Unit for Jan Muzzy and to be honest, it was my very last choice. It's a little brushy hell hole and both the way in and out are up hill!! But we saw so many elk last year and I came home with one so I figured I'd put in for it again. I've been drawn for a Jan muzzy hunt for the last 4 years straight...I was afraid my boss wouldn't give it to me this year, but then our management structure changed so my new manager gave it to me. Looking foward to the hunt...not looking foward to the 3 mile up-hill in and 2 mile up hill out.

Bobcat, they can't hand me something that isn't available yet. They gave me the option of waiting to pay until the tags were available but I chose to pay then. I'm not too worried about it yet. Plenty of time before I need it.

Not available yet ??? When you purchase a tag, whatever it may be (deer, elk, bear, cougar, moose, etc,) all they do is print the tag out. They all look the same, just like a receipt. I've seen a moose tag (my dad's) and it was no different than any other tag.

So is it the tag, or the permit, that you have not received yet?

My wife bought me a new scope for my new rifle last Christmas. I just got it honed in last weekend. I am really getting rev ed up.

A buddy just got a Kentucky Fried Chicken chicken cooker. This thing is like 6 foot tall with racks and a big heater in the bottom. it h as been converted into a meat smoker. He is going to put a batch of bear sausage in it tomorrow. This thing is just too cool. You could put a whole deer in it and smoke the whole thing.

Also been seeing quite a few bucks. Been wood cutting the last few weekends and have seen bucks every trip. Maybe more than a dozen and all but one was leagal. Some rag heads with eye guards and some nice 3x4 and 4x4 - nothing huge but all shooters!

Shoot straight - shoot often
