I think a "record buck" off all time will come from our  gov't actually earning one......but that is a record that will never be made  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Assuming you're talking B&C Record Book, I think NE WA will be producing some monster whitetails this year.

Horn growth should be good. Carsniper I hunted east of you about 5 miles. Did you noticed that the deer didn't migrate down until after the general rifle. It was some rough hunting. Nothing like the prior year. Hoping for colder weather this year to push them down.

Carpsniper it's an area that would waist our time scouting due to them spending summers in the mountains. Might find a bear tho. Hopeing by mid October they are down.

Are we talking state records or recognized book animals?

I don't see either of our state muley (T/NT) being broken anytime soon.  Probably same for elk.

A friend of mine who is also a member of this site has a typical muley that was recognized at the B&C awards this year.

I think the Methow could produce some nice mulies this year, the amount of feed is unbelivable compared to past years.
Title: Re: New records....
Post by: Lowedog on July 13, 2010, 01:03:48 PM
I believe it was 187 gross and 180-2/8 net.  That is the only typical entry for WA for 2007-2009.  Only one NT entry also and that one was 216 3/8.  Get those heads officially scored!

Oregon had a 195 7/8 typical muley entered!  :o

I agree with that.  It has been an amazing year for vegetation growth!  I think we will see some great heads on the ground this year.  Just hope that I am one of the lucky ones!  :)

I feel that the whitetail record could be broken in the NE or parts of Sherman.  As for the muleys, the only area I could see a record being broken in the southern Ferry Country (non-rez) country.  And for the elk, if that Hanford Bull crosses a fence, it might have a chance.............

Blacktail - Skykomish area

Muleys- YTC or NE

Whitetail- WHO cares.

After seeing those two muleys taken on the YTC this past season, that would be a good bet.

Those were awesome animals!

The WA record according to NW Big Game is 218 5/8.  I have seen that rack in person and it is amazing. I don't think it scored that high typical with B&C though.  The G3 on one side almost branches off the main beam.  I think the gross is like 227.  I don't know if 218 typical will be broken anywhere in the world let alone in WA.

NT takes 247 + just to break top ten in WA.  There has only been two bucks scored that were killed in the last 50+ years in WA that scored that high.  One in 71 that was 247 and one in 2003 that was 274 although that one says hunter and location unknown.

Franklin county has put out same huge bucks.  I didn't realize that the #2 typical buck in WA was taken by an archery hunter in 2004 in Franklin county.

I maybe wrong but I would bet it will be a number of years before the ytc produces anything near what it did last year.

not sure about record book animals but I bet we see some trophy class muley bucks come from area's not known to produce them this fall.
Title: Re: New records....
Post by: squeeze2drop on July 13, 2010, 05:05:24 PM
I agree with JDB, I know of a couple 190 class bucks takin this last year in 382 and it never gets talked about, and they were both public land bucks, so many animals, they can be taken at any place

The YTC has one HUGE advantage..When the military shuts it down for a year or two its closed. So all of a sudden you have 185 buck that gets 2 extra years :dunno:

Then there is the stuff on Hanford wandering onto the base :o

that would help but they also have a big predator and poching problem

The predators are crazy but who's poaching?  There has to be less than most other areas :dunno:

Title: Re: New records....
Post by: boneaddict on July 13, 2010, 05:59:39 PM
I believe the natives have full access to 6.  I guess its not really poaching, but its uncontrolled hunting.  I hear they also saunter out of 6 with little pressure from the "base" because the natives have threatened to take back their ground or access......local heresay.

However, you won't see a year like this year for the reason stated above.

Post by: 270Shooter on July 13, 2010, 07:56:59 PM
I'm pretty sure those 2 bucks that were killed on the YTC were 2 of the biggest deer out there. My buddy killed the smaller one that went 180, and I talked to the guy and saw the head of the 200+ buck. They saw a lot of deer and think those were the 2 biggest bucks out there last year, so I cant see the YTC producing any giants for a few years, although the cut back on tags may help some.
Title: Re: New records....
Post by: squeeze2drop on July 13, 2010, 08:10:57 PM
Well let's get one thing clear, nobody EVER sees EVERY buck that's in the surrounding area, so its always possible that there were and are bigger out there at YTC just like anywhere else

Does any body know what the record is for BT? I shot a buck a few years ago that scored a 135 and he was with another bigger buck. The bigger buck is still around and I have a multi-season deer permit this year. I hope I get a chance to show you all a picture. I'm going to put out some trail cameras soon. Also, has anyone seen that big buck hanging around Point Defiance? He was also down on Ruston Way too.

I think that thr reality of a 200 inch buck and a 400 bull going down this year are not too far fetched . slidge ridge or eniat for deer and Naneum for the bull. But hopefully observitory . there was a bull that would have grossed that but not net, he made it through hunting season. I saw a buck in eniat three years ago that would go at least 200. good luck too the tag holders should be a banner year.
