Just wondering if anyone has used the leupold std bases and rings or had any problems with them. Just had them put on my tikka 270 wsm.
-
I have them on my Browning A-bolt, but if I had it to do over again, I'd go with the Leupold dual dovetails. There's really no need for the windage adjustment on the rear base as far as I'm concerned. But I've never had a problem in 14 years.

Thanks for the reply that was my thinking too.

yeah the extra screw on the base on the back ring like bobcat said is not really great for anything once you get the gun lined in and as long as it is strait most scope will adjust enough, that i have never had to mess with moving it. but i have them on about 5 guns and never once had one problem at all they will work great for you :IBCOOL:

It's just a weak link in the system is all. It's the one spot that if you're going to have a problem, that's where it will be.
-
I had the rear base windage screws loosen on me one year deer hunting, never saw the use in them. Since then I've slowly began swapping all my bases and rings with Warne.
-
I've always wondered why the Leupold standard bases and rings are so popular, and sort of, the "standard." There are several other better options.
-
Could be because some stores carry more of them then other brands, or I've seen it many times where a gun rep will reach for them first when asked for bases/rings.

yeah thats what the guy did at the shop i was at, i should have got somethin else really dont like the windage scew set up.. :bash:
