I know to a lot of you having a dog qualified for Nationals isn't a big thing, but to my wife and I its huge. The American Brittany Club just posted the dogs currently qualified for the Open and Amateur National Gun Dog trial that is held in Iona Michigan every October. Looks like my pup made the list. I knew she was already qualified, but to see it in writing is pretty cool, epecially since she managed to qualify twice. She qualified by taking second in a 37 dog Open Gun Dog trial, and then did it again 3 weeks later by taking second in an OGD trial with 24 dogs. Not to shabby for a derby aged dog! She was qualified for Nationals at only 22 months old. Heres a picture of her last Derby aged trial, when she won the ABC Eastern All Age Futurity. Even though we probably aren't going to run her at Nationals, its still cool shes qualified.

Outstanding!! Congrats to you, your wife and the pup!

sweet deal. did she get second to the same dog in both competitions?

No. But the dogs she got second behind are both very, very nice dogs. In one of the trials she beat 2 previous National Champions who didn't place, and the dog she lost to was the the dog of the year somewhere. She ran against some really stiff competition to get qualified, which makes it even that more exciting.

BIG CONGRATS! Awesome!

So your dog is the 2nd one from the right?

No, shes the little one on the far left. Her brother is on the far right. That picture was taken at the ABC Eastern Futurity in NY at the end of April. At trials the first place dog usually stands to the far left (blue ribbon) then second (red), third (yellow), and fourth (white). Her trainer and handler is holding her brother, and the guy holding my pup is the helper of another big brittany Pro on the east coast.... My pup is little, only about 30lbs, but shes all legs and goes like hell.
