Title: I would like to see washington whitetail pics!!!
Post by: mmullins on July 24, 2010, 10:47:49 PM
I am making plans to head over to the aladdin 111 and 49 degrees north 117 for rifle this year in november. I have never hunted east of the mountains before and looking forward to it. If any one has any pics or advice about hunting the white tail over there i would be very greatful to hear it.

HUNT THE RUT.  I've hunted the rut for the last 18 years and it's addicting.  I would post some pics but I'm sure everyone on here is sick of seeing them by now.  Here's one that I've posted on here before....shot NOV. 12 of the 2006 season. This buck was the biggest bodied deer I've killed. The racks not bad but there's bigger ones. All of the whitetails I've killed have been in one of those units you listed.

Pack you a lunch and hunt all day.  ;) I'll post more pics if some want to see them.......including the vampire buck.  ;)

never give up. I watched this buck bed with a doe and then went back the nest day.....watched the doe get what she needed, and then I smoked the buck. look for the thickest draws you can find if hunting public land.

Here's a few from my collection of whitey pics...enjoy and good luck! (note: the doe was a damage 2nd deer permit....best meat ever, and a very fun hunt). All of these are from WA.

Man i am getting excited. This is going to be the first rifle deer tag that i have bought in 5 years, i have been archery black tail hunting and lookin' for ward to the change. I guess i am wondering what kind of distances do you guys shoot these deer out too. I have been shooting my .308 and feel very confident out to 300 yards. Do i need to go out farther than that or is 300?

OK..Here's the last 6 distances for whitetails I have killed....approx. 2009 was 150 yards, 2008 was 40 yards, 2007 was 30 yards, 2006 was 25 yards, 2005 was 130 yards and 2004  was 80 yards.  :)

i have an old friend of my dads that has 3000 acres private land that i hunt over there. my family has hunted there since before i was born. there are beautiful bucks over there and allot of public and private land. find the snow up high and you can usually track a big buck if your in shape and experienced enough to tell tracks apart. if you cant get to any snow and your not framiliar with the area your best bet is to wait for late buck and the rut. then hit up as many draws as you can. if your seriously interested in some tips you can hit me up. i dont get on much lately been pretty busy but i will try if your lookin.
