I got a story from the biologist in NE Washington how a bunch of elk from Hanford transplanted on the Lecleric Creek wildlife refuge made it back to Hanford. Some incredible journey! Anyone else hear of this?
-
Well, I wonder if any of them bulls died today ?
-
I heard threw the grapevine, someone was hunting the bull on the left this weekend.
-

Why today :dunno:
-
maybe start of a gov tag is the only thing i can think of :dunno:
-
The landowners tag start today and run thru the end of Feb I think. That bull is in the middle of hanford. Good luck on the one who is dumb enough to chase him out of there. Even if you did get him and it was not legal what a waste that would be. Maybe the Game department should get together with D.O.E and get some sperm from those bulls. But that would make to much sense right? I know that they are rocky mountain elk but what good genitics these elk have. There are some real big guys out there.
-
Ya he's never going to be shot, and in a way that's half the cool part, cuz u always want what u can't have, even if somehow he was killed, it would b illegal of course(sorry fellas he ain't crossin the river) but whoever did it would b found fast, cuz he would b braggin about it

dude this elk lives at hanford..nuclear government special clearance blah blah blah....of course he is in a high fence and he knows he is safe there....those big boys are not stupid ;) and I also will look at pics as many times as they are posted I want to go see these elk one of these days....
-
I really think I'd shoot the typical...the one on the left. Though trash is cool, I am more of a big typical guy. The are both huge!
-
Make no mistake, I am not knocking the photos or the elk, just that these are not elk in Washington that are going to be roaming around in the public land hunting areas. I do like looking at them as well. I could be wrong.... :dunno:
-
Great pics and great elk...re the non-typical, it looks to me like he basically has a 5 x 6 typical frame that's pretty uneven and that's loaded with a bunch of trash on one side. Thus I'm thinking the score is going to be in the low 400's at best. He's certainly no threat to spidey. I also love his runnin' mate, the typical.

Do you know something we don't...?

I would take that one over spidey any day!!!!!!!!!!!!

You knew that was coming with that picture with the fence in the background. Just wait for all the "high fence" crap to start once that picture hits that 'other' site. ;)
-
i would take trashy any day over the typical myself i like the freaks
-
there's been some depredation hunts going on at the edges for awhile now.... atleast 2 weeks.
I'm not sure how any of these elk get over those darn high fences :chuckle:
I don't think this bull will leave, he's probably fairly safe...... unless he falls in love ;)

Not public land areas, but they occasionally cross the Hanford fence onto a couple of private ranches. There's an outside chance he could get killed if he crosses over for a snack or a cow on the wrong day...
-
He looks to be a genetic mutation and should be removed before he taints the gene pool any more! :chuckle: I volunteer to remove this substandard specimen from the gene pool.
