how much would you expect to pay for a 140 horse mercury outboard with full hydrolics, runs excelent, 2 stroke, 1980?

hell yeah from what i have been around i would say maybe 500.00 :dunno: it is 30 years old :dunno:

$500 at the most and only if it's in museum condition. You have no idea what the water jackets look like or anything else for that matter. I would want to see it run for at least 20 minutes before buying an outboard that old. That thing is going to eat you alive on gas too, 4-strokes save you so much money on gas it's incredible.

I wouldn't touch it. Getting parts for it will be a bigger challenge than getting the old one off. LOL

it is acctualy my motor. it runs great i have never had a problem with it.

Rule of thumb on old boat motors -
Good runners, never let you down, etc. - $10/hp tops.
Runs, but needs some work - $5/ hp tops.
Not running - scrap value less disposal fees for non-salvageable parts.

I looked at NADA and they had it priced at $180.

Of course thats just a starting point. Could be a few bucks more,or less depending on condition. One guys excellent is another guys junk.

Call a couple dealers and get their opinion.

Yes that my fault. I just re read the post. I thought it was a 1990 but my price is probley high for that as well. Sorry. Didnt mean to lead you worng.

At the very, very most would be $500.00 and you have tothrow in at lease one good gass can, and hose..
