I'm a bow hunter and was wondering if bear attractant's where considered baiting? 2 do i have to have orange during bear season i know during deer and elk firearm season i do but i didnt see anything about bear season 3 I'm hunting the south sound area gmu 520 is this a good area for a first time big game hunter to start in? Ive been scouting and seen a few bears but with this being my first time seeing bears in the wild I'm not sure if they were big or average bears and Ive found a few places with good sign
thank you for any input and the best of luck to all

Anything used for the purpose of attracting bear to an area for the purpose of hunting is baiting, including scents. no orange required unless there is a general firearm season open

Orange isn't required although I would suggest carrying an orange vest in your pack for when you get your bear down. There are too many people that may shoot when they dont know what their target is. Just my :twocents:

I'm with you. I carry a cheap-o vest and bunch it up and clip it to the back of my pack. Figure when (not if) I get a bear down I'll put it on the bear and bust out my camo and orange hat. Don't want to get shot.
