Title: any hominy lovers??
Post by: rasbo on August 12, 2010, 06:01:39 AM: I do this hunting a lot or just camping,drain some yellow hominey and rinse,coat with flour and fry in butter till they a little crispy crust on the outside,salt and pecker and serve with over easy eggs and hot sausage

Its corn in a can that looks all puffed up. I have only seen it white. Not sure what they do to it to get it like that, but I like it. May grandma used to make it all the time. I think I have a can in the cupboard.

Love hominy, and any thing fried is always better. Don't think the salt and other THING sounds very good, though

The way you described cooking that hominey is EXACTLY how my Gram used to cook it for me when I was a kid. If she didn't have any cans of hominey then she would sometimes subsitute the hominey with garbanzo beans and fry the garbanzo's the same way. I'm going to the store today and pick up a few cans of hominey!! Guess what one of the side dishes is going to be for supper tonight? ;) It's been over 40 years since I've had some!! Thanks for the post.
