Post by: 400out on August 16, 2010, 11:45:24 AM
I just got conformation that there was a 380 bull poached in the area that I have bull tag in  :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: Not sure if they caught them or not but wdfw said that it was probably the biggest bull in the area  :bash: :bash:  why !!!!! I hate stupid people  :mor:

What area?? That sux. Hope WDFD gets the evidence it needs for a conviction. I am sure there is plenty more big ones out there where ever your tag is for, keep you chin up and dont get discouraged!

IT's hard not to get discouraged because it was the only bull in the blues!

It was probably a tribal member exercising his/her right to hunt anywhere they want.  I've heard of horror stories in the Clockum and Yakima area.  Probably the same in the Blues.  Not prejudice, just feel not fair to all "Americans."   Why do they need 5 months to hunt when I get only about 3-4 weeks as a bow hunter!   :bash:

prolly was a injun you know i think they should have the rights they have if they use traditional methods if they wanna use a traditional bow and a stick with a sharp rock tied to it have at it but they didn't have 338's and ford trucks back in the day thats our tradition lol

 >:( looks like they probably waited until the bulls started stripping velvet. There is a lot of tribal poaching up above there in the nat.forest. I wonder if they got a little more greedy.

I kind of hope I never catch an elk poacher up there... >:(

Wow! Why doesn't this place just get it over with and start up an Official Injun Hater Forum? Just a place to let all your feelings out...it's all our fault anyway isn't it:chuckle:!!! .....and I mean don't hold back any :IBCOOL: :chuckle:!!!

I mean it coulda been an indian? But who knows as of now....??? A poacher is a poacher to me I don't care who it is.

We don't hate Indians, we hate people that f, it up for the guy that is doing it right.  We hate road hunters, and people that chop of the head and leave the rest.  Indians do get alot of crap on this site for the actions of few.  This does not make us haters.  You wait years in this state to get one chance for a special animal.

No it means that I talked to another member on here that had heard it but I wasn't sure or was he, but when I talked to the game dept today he told me that it was true! I didn't ask much more due to the fact that it might be a ongoing investigation and he didn't seem like he wanted to talk about it much  :dunno:  I'M STILL PISSED

So, I just returned from a scouting trip in the blues.  the only elk I saw was dead. It had been killed, the antlers and hindquarters taken, and the rest left in the road.  It was on the grouse flat-pomeroy road, just above cabin saddle.  I hope it wasn't the only 350+ class bull left because I've got 19 days and a quality hunt tag to fill!

The bull that 400out is talking about(I assume) was killed in the 178 Peola unit up off of the Peola road. I was up there Saturday night and talked to one of the landowners who was out running around looking for bad guys. We were stopped glassing a group of elk and he came up behind us with the headlights out thinking/hoping we were the poachers. Someone was right down below his house calling elk and he thought it was us.
He told me a 350 bull and no meat/horns were taken.  :dunno:

honestly, this happens a lot up off the 40 road. I've witnessed guys getting out of the truck, setting their beer on the head, shooting at a bull and then leaving, thinking that they missed.

pretty sad, I know of several dead bulls that have been left to rot, with only the horns and the easy meat removed.

I don't have anything against native americans but I do have a serious problems with the ones that do this. I'm not saying that other groups don't do it too but my first hand experiences have been with natives.

For the record...
I understand they don't think this was native americans that killed this bull and there was no meat or horns taken at all. This I heard from the landowner guy I talked to. I know some guys got busted a few years back for killing elk up there and taking the backstraps and leaving the rest to rot. they were not native americans either....that said, there is a ton of native american hunting that goes on up in the Lick Creek unit and they all come from Idaho.

:dunno:I passed a truck the weekend before deer opener a couple years ago that have ID plates and a spike in the back! I don't know if it was native americans or not I still kick myself for not writting down the plates and calling someone just in case  :bash: Tha wont happen again!  and just for the record I don't care if it was a bull or a cow, if the elk was just shot because it was in the wrong spot and stood still to long! its wrong very wrong  I hope they catch them  :mgun:   I think we need a smiley face hanging from a rope!  :chuckle:

That totally sucks.  Good to hear some landowners are driving around the area and looking for poachers.  Not much you can do now except get back off the roads deeper in the woods for the bulls that they can't shoot from the road.  Good Luck! Hope to see some pics

We have land in the blues and poaching is a problem starting with locals then Indians, then Gypsies, then west siders and just about in that order for the citations the WDFW has written on our place.

I hate hearing this kind of story.  Somehow it's worse knowing it's in my backyard.  I put out a couple calls to see if I could come up with any more info, but it's unlikely.  This thread is the first I've heard of it, so I doubt my friends have heard of it either.  My guess is just some kids that won't be back, but who knows?  There'll be another there for you 400!  Hopefully a little bigger, too!!

It would be nice to know if/when they catch the person responsible for the bull(s).  I have been waiting for the other shoe to hit with another post about more big bulls hitting the ground out of season. :bash:

I was up there in the Blues last weekend scouting and getting wood and heard some shotting Saturday pm.  Tried to drive around and see if someone was up to no good...but didn't come across anything/anybody in the area of the shots.
