A buddy of mine bought a kimber and a springfield not to long ago and we did a side by side of the two and I could not see much difference in shooting. I say get the springfield and buy $200 Worth of extra ammo.
Thanks for the input!! Really helps me out :tup:! However :chuckle:$200 dosent buy too much for .45ACP ammo :bash:

You hear about Kimber pistols having issues (on internet forums) a lot because they are selling more 1911s than their competition so there are bound to be more "flaws", although percentage wise they may all be very equal. Most problems can be chalked up to a mag or ammo issue and if it is still occurring after the 500 round break in then you can contact the shop and send it to them. (I know, paying big money $$$$ for a pistol should result in a flawless pistol, but mistakes happen).
Both guns seem like good choices, just dont let all the negative vibe about Kimbers steer you away

I do love my Kimber Stainless II, but I also have another 'steel' pistol. (Colt Officer's) I swear it'll feed rocks!

I really do like the Kimber, and If I did go with the Kimber I would pick the CDP II 3 inch model for ease of concealment. But I put this all on the back-burner for now as I just ripped the *censored* out of my waterproof hunting pants and its about time for a new Jacket as well, so I'm going to invest in some new rain gear for hunting season and then place an order for my 1911 next year after the hunting and holiday season are done with the year.

Rain gear is a must, nobody likes to get soaked when hunting
